What you''ll get to do: As a Hardware Technician working for the CBP ITI2 program, you will have a fast moving, challenging, and highly rewarding position building systems and components that assist CBP in protecting the public from dangerous people and materials while facilitating legitimate trade and travel. The candidate will have basic experience in the electronic and / or mechanical assembly process. The candidate will be required to work in an environment where teamwork and individual collaboration is essential to success . * C onstruct modular electronic systems utilizing C ommercial- O ff- T he- S helf (COTS) hardware and enclosures to protect systems from environmental hazards * Configure systems using COTS and proprietary software * Perform testing and troubleshooting * Follow technical instructions, interpret engineering blueprints and technical terms. You have: * Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria includes , but not limited to: * 3-year check for felony convictions * 1-year check for illegal drug use * 1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud * 5 + years'' experience * Excellent communication skills. * College degree (B.S.) in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience acceptable in lieu of degree. * Experience building electronic systems in an enclosure with wires, screws, and electrical components * Great interpersonal and e xcellent communication skills You are good at: * A basic understanding of computer operating systems and networking. * Experience in working with cable, wire, and termination technologies. * CAT-6 Cable creation and testing * A basic understanding of simple test equipment such as multi-meters and cable testers. * I nterpret ing technical documentation. * U sing power tools such as drills, power saws, and other tools. * U sing hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, cutters, etc. * Basic computer skills in installing, configuring, and running operating systems such as Windows and Linux. * Assembling high level devices using provided instructions * F ollow ing a fast-paced Agile development cycle * Working under senior hardware engineer''s guidance and in an environment where teamwork and individual collaboration is essential to success.
