Job Description

SUPERVISION: Is responsible to and evaluated by the Treatment Director. Monitors and supervises implementation of clinical areas of treatment by direct care staff on the assigned unit treatment team(s). POSITION PHILOSOPHY: Functions as a treatment team leader with Clinical Services, behavior management and treatment, and counseling expertise. Functions as an extension of the Clinical Services Director. Is responsible for developing, coordinating and monitoring behavior treatment programs and clinical treatment of students per assigned caseload and assigned team. Provides clinical services for students per assigned caseload. Also develops and facilitates therapeutic groups (e.g., Social skills, anger management groups, etc.). He/She will provide training to Unit Treatment Teams related to behavioral interventions.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS LISTED BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Clinical Services Expectations 1. Keeps current on daily events within the Agency by reading communication logs, daily reports, and records, paying particular attention to those affecting residents on assigned caseload. 2. Develops and implements staff training related to behavior management, behavior control, and behavior treatment strategies. 3. Assists in supervising students on his/her caseload or assigned team when needed. 4. Protects resident rights and represents interests of residents in overall agency matters. Treats students with dignity and respect. 5. Reports and participates in investigating any suspected student abuse, whether physical, sexual, or mental/ psychological. 6. Successfully completes the orientation period (usually four months) with Treatment Director. 7. Assists in orienting new employees to Clinical Services and/or specific treatment material related to residents per Treatment Director''s assignments. 8. Knows, implements, and assists staff in implementing emergency evacuation procedures. 9. Maintains visibility and accessibility in the daily program. 10. Ensures that proper supervision and coverage of the students is secured prior to asking any personnel to remove themselves from coverage responsibilities for any reason. 11. Manage the formal supervision of all Clinical Services employees seeking licensure through mentoring, academic supervision and support and acting as sign off for all required licensure hours. Fiscal/Business Responsibilities 1. Submits requests for supplies, materials, and equipment to Clinical Services Director. 2. Submits requests for reimbursement to Clinical Services Director. Admission and Discharge 1. Coordinates admission and discharge of students per assigned caseload, working with the Treatment Director, Clinical Services Director, Admissions Director and other essential team members. a. Initiates and coordinates referrals to other agencies. b. Exchanges necessary information and uses Release of Information forms. 2. Ensures that unit staff have preliminary information on new student before admission. 3. Establishes communication with referring agents and parents for new student within the first week of admission. 4. Reviews completed intake forms with student and/or parent/guardian per CCI and/or PSF licensing. 5. Reviews with student and/or parent/guardian policies for students related to visits, contact, belongings, etc. 6. Provides aftercare and follow-up services as appropriate per Treatment Director. Treatment Team Expectations 1. Acts as Treatment Team leader to ensure continuity and consistency in the treatment philosophy of T.C. Harris. 2. Completes agenda and conducts Treatment Team meetings, leading discussions regarding program planning and treatment.Ensures accurate minutes are taken. 3. Along with the Case Coordinator, establishes specialized treatment systems for the unit as appropriate and submits for approval to the Clinical Services Director and Human Rights Committee. 4. Assists with staff training for the assigned Treatment Team regarding behavioral and clinical issues and adequate information to implement clinical treatment for students. Treatment Planning and Coordination 1. Coordinates, monitors, and provides observations and assessments of students. 2. Works with the Case Coordinator to develop, write, and/or evaluate unit routine/schedule and unit behavioral systems. 3. Writes Individual Treatment Plans for all residents on their caseload and reviews and dates these as required. 4. Writes and submits proposed Behavioral Intervention Plans to the Treatment Director, Human Rights Committee and students guardian. 5. Works with appropriate individuals on the Treatment Team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized Behavioral Intervention Plans which are proactive and therapeutic. 6. Develops overall behavioral approaches that are applicable, practical, and effective. 7. Continuously monitors and revises (as necessary) all phases of treatment programs per Individual Treatment Plans and Behavioral Intervention Plans. 8. Maintains and reports data on each student. 9. Discusses medications, medical treatments, and health of students and related treatment plan with Psychiatrist, Health Services Director, and Treatment Director. 10. Consults weekly with Treatment Director regarding clinical treatment of students, job responsibilities, and concerns. 11. Implements Agency-approved behavior management plans and strategies for students in crisis. 12. Is on call for crisis behavior management with students. Therapeutic Groups Develops and facilitates therapeutic groups that discuss and/or train students in identified skill areas (e.g., social skills, anger management strategies, relaxation techniques, etc.) as applicable. Individual Therapy Provides individual therapy to all students assigned to caseload. Therapy sessions will be held each week for one hour. Sessions will be documented in therapy notes to be audited by the Clinical Services Director and/or Treatment Director(s).Staffings/Reports 1. Prepares and presents, all TTR meetings for caseload. 2. Prepares and presents Clinical Services Report, including Individual Treatment Review at all TTR meetings for caseload. 3. Collects all reports, collates, and submits to the Clinical Services Director by the day after the TTR. 4. Schedules Discharge / Transition meetings as appropriate and prepares written Discharge Summary for submission to Treatment Director no later than 10 days after discharge. 5. Writes monthly, and bi-annual reports other reports on designated students per caseload. All reports are to be submitted as directed by the Treatment Director. Resident Contact 1. Provides appropriate sex education for each student at his/her level of understanding. 2. Ensures that appropriate religious training for each student is obtained as requested by student, parent/ guardian. 3. Provides family therapy for families of students per caseload as needed and court ordered. Family Involvement 1. Discusses family involvement and home visits with each student. 2. Contacts family at least twice monthly by telephone to update them. 3. Offers to teach all interested members basic child management skills. 4. Encourages family involvement at T.C. Harris for therapy. 5. Refers to other community resources when appropriate. Community Involvement 1. Informs referring agents of TTR dates, treatment plans, progress, special events, medication changes, and/or concerns and contacts them at least once per month. 2. Arranges for and supervises meetings between non-family and non-Agency persons, and the students (legal agents, etc.). 3. Attends county case reviews and court hearings as directed by the Treatment Director per caseload when requested by court. 4. Conducts tours of the facility at the request of the Treatment Director or Director of Admissions.QUALIFICATIONS: LMHC, LCSW, LMFT or IBI Behavioral Consultant. Masters Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling from an accredited college or university.
