ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NURSING & CLINICAL PRACTICE Requisition : 562688 Location: Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, Baltimore, MD 21201 Category: Nursing Management/Leadership Work Shift: Day Shift Work Week: Full Time Weekend Work Required: No Date Posted: Aug. 4, 2022Johns Hopkins Community Physicians is in search of an Assistant Director of Nursing and Clinical Practice to join our Central Nursing team. The Assistant Director assists the Director of Education and Nursing in the organization, development and operation of nursing strategic plans, objectives and standards that support ambulatory nursing and allied health clinical practices as well as regulatory oversight of clinical and nursing staff. The Assistant Director is responsible for managing the clinical, operational and financial activities for the central nursing team. Primary responsibilities include: human resource management, daily operations, and compliance with policies, protocols, and regulations. Ensures effective, safe and therapeutic patient care is provided in accordance with applicable policies and standards. Has a thorough understanding of and ability to perform the duties of the central nursing and support staff. Reports to the Director of Education and Nursing and other clinical leaders to ensure operational efficiency, productivity, fiscal integrity and clinical excellence. In addition, the Assistant Director oversees additional offices supported through the Office of Johns Hopkins Physicians and other Johns Hopkins Medicine entities as directed. This includes quality and safety, oversight of clinical support staff including nurses, medical assistants and others in JHCP and shared suites within Johns Hopkins Medicine in collaboration with the Director of Education and Nursing. Provides analytic support to the Director of Nursing Practice and Clinical Education on a wide range of practice management issues including: nursing and clinical support staff scope of practice, patient safety, workflow changes, general clinic practice, development of policies and protocols and clinical support functionality within the electronic health record. Location: 6225 Smith Ave. Baltimore, MD 21209 Status: Exempt - Full-time - 40 hours per week Requirements: Education: Work requires a Master''s degree in nursing management, education or related field. Knowledge: Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing in the ambulatory care setting. Knowledge of clinical nursing care in a range of ambulatory settings and specialties. Work requires the ability to work in a rapidly changing healthcare environment while considering new and untested approaches to training assessments, evaluations and delivery. Must be familiar with electronic medical records (EMR) /electronic health record (EHR) applications, operations, process improvement, organizational development and assessing customer needs. Work requires ability to develop workflows and training scenarios to support JHCP clinical testing and training materials to support plan to roll out enhancements, upgrades/updates and other changes to the environment. Skills: Work requires excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels of staff. Work requires skill in facilitating groups, communicating findings (oral and written), interviewing, analyzing, negotiating, contracting, and writing action plans. Work requires excellent leadership, teamwork, interpersonal, skills. Must have the ability to network and make a connection to community members. Ability to collaborate with users and customers to define project scope and objectives. Excellent customer relations, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Ability to coordinate the use of approved data gathering and representation tools. Demonstrated ability to establish and meet work schedules within tight deadlines. Work requires strong analytical ability to independently manage multiple complex projects, gather and interpret data from different sources and to complete tasks and projects within designated time frames. Ability to use research findings in the development of policies, procedures, and standards of practice for patient care in the ambulatory setting. Required Licensure, Certification, Etc.: RN licensure in Maryland; eligible for licensure in JHCP practice areas. Certifications in Patient Safety preferred. CPR and others as required to administer and facilitate selected training programs and assessment instruments. Work Experience: Work requires five (5) years of demonstrated performance and/or consulting experience to include but not limited to clinical training, needs assessment and analysis, training design/development and delivery, group process and other interventions.
