If you are a PTA who wants to be part of an amazing team, we want to meet you!ResponsibilitiesThis primary purpose of your job position is to perform skilled, technical work in the application of physical therapy treatments and related duties as assigned and directed by a qualified physical therapist. The work is performed under the supervision of a qualified physical therapist who evaluates the patient, develops treatment plan, and designates the specific responsibilities to the physical therapist assistant.Administer modalities; perform massage techniques; administer therapeutic exercise regimens including ROM, PRE, facilitation, etc., gait training and functional training as treatment procedures according to the directions of the physical therapist. . Observe, record, and report patient''s reaction to treatments and programs to the supervising physical therapist. Provide for and oversee safety precautions during all phases of treatment. Confer with the physical therapist and other health care personnel regarding formulation of patient total care and treatment plans. Assist in the physical and psychological preparation of patient for therapy. Teach patient and family proper use and care of equipment such as braces, wheelchairs, and prosthetic devices. Maintain good working relations with other departments in relation to the philosophy at St. Camillus Rehabilitation Center. Consult with patients, family and/or health team in regards to treatment programs, progress, and planning. Maintain knowledge of current advances in the field of physical therapy.Prepare, set up, and maintain treatment areas and equipment.Perform record keeping functions and clerical activities related to maintenance and execution of Physical Therapy program.Act as a mentor for new PTA''sParticipate as appropriate in program and facility ply with the policies and procedures, and rules and regulations of St. Camillus, and is aware of State and Federal regulations.Understands and adheres to agency policies and procedures.Maintains client confidentiality.Demonstrates knowledge of infectious diseases and use of universal precautions.Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state and local rules and policies.Maintains clinical records and reports on a timely basis in accordance with agency quality assurance standards.Attends agency staff meetings as scheduled.Participates in peer review/chart audits as scheduled.Personal Growth and DevelopmentParticipates in annual performance evaluation with Therapy Manager and supervising Physical Therapist.Participates in agency and other educational in-services as scheduled.Maintains acceptable clinical knowledge in areas of clinical interest through continuing education workshops/courses. Must have a NYS Drivers License; a reliable vehicle, able to get the employee to scheduled home visit and/or to the agency as necessary; and provide proof of updated vehicle insurance.QualificationsMust have successful completion of a two (2) year APTA approved program for Physical Therapist Assistant leading to an AA degree, or the equivalent in accordance with New York State requirements.Why work at St. Camillus?
