RN - Oncology - Temporary

Christie Clinic''s department of Hematology/Oncology is seeking a temporary, full-time Registered Nurse, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm at the Main Clinic. Duties include the provision of professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices, safely administers chemotherapeutic agents within our chemotherapy suite, provide professional case management of oral chemotherapy patient population. Current ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy provider card or ability to achieve within 6 months of employment is also required. Professional nursing experience is highly preferred. If you do not already have the ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card, the department will partner with you by providing paid time to study and test for the provider card so you are able to obtain that achievement. Hematology/Oncology experience is not required, the department will provide you with all the tools and resources necessary to transform you into an Oncology Chemotherapy nurse through training, certifications, etc.Responsibilities:Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient.Observe, record and report patient''s condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment to provider.Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, struct patient and family regarding medication, treatment instructions and patient education.Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using nursing assessment.Administer IV''s for Chemotherapy and/or Phlebotomy.Perform related work as directed, by coordinator and as required.
