OverviewLocation: Divisional Headquarters, Finance Department (Hartford, CT)Status: Non-exempt, Full-timeHours Per Week: 37.5Schedule: Mon-Fri; 8:30 am 4:00 pm,Purpose of Position: Process expenses from all Corps and Area Services into the accounting package while adhering to The Salvation Armys accounting policies and procedures. Responsibilities Apply accounting principles and practices following standardized, well-established procedures, regulations, and guidelines. Institute safeguards to ensure the integrity and maintenance of the accounting system. Assist Corps Officers with the preparation of financial-related materials for audits. Assist in month-end closing procedures. Input financial-related data into computer system and maintain financial reports and records related to programs. Maintain an unpaid invoice file; input invoices and other unpaid data into accounts payable module after invoices/data have been reviewed by Corps Officer for accuracy and code to proper accounts and departments within the program. Maintain and oversee maintenance of financial documents (check vouchers, payroll, etc.). Maintain strict confidentiality at all times. Record and post expenses into the computer system. The Corps Officers shall then advise as to which payables are to be processed based on the availability of funds. Provide coverage for the Accounts Receivable Clerks.Qualifications Associate degree in Accounting/Business Management or 3 years of experience highly preferred. Ability to manipulate large amounts of data. Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases. High attention to detail and accuracy. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations. Should be well organized, show strong initiative, and effective follow through. Valid drivers license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements. Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army.
