OverviewPURPOSE:The Assistant Controller/Sr Assistant Controller manages and completes a wide variety of transactions within the hotel accounting department, while assisting the controller or director of finance with the direction and supervision of team members in the accounting department and all related departmental functions.ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee accounts receivable, payroll, general cashier and general ledger reconciliations Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records Support all aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting etc.) Assist in the formulation and verification of internal controls and policies to comply with requirements Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements Manage journal entries, invoices and other items to reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts Review the companys accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances Full knowledge of accounts receivable, lien releases and collection procedures Strong knowledge of accounting principles and understanding of all accounting areas (accounts payable, accounts receivable, income audit, general cashier and payroll) as required and in required time frames Assist with bank statements, sales and occupancy taxes, corporate reporting requirements, budgeting, and monthly financial preparation Maintains guest service standards Manage and motivate all Accounting Staff, assist with daily supervision to include staffing, training, discipline, scheduling and visually monitoring performance to ensure adherence to all service and productivity standards Receive and resolve all departmental guest complaints in a timely manner and within the guidelines of the company Organize and conduct departmental meetings to disseminate pertinent information Provide clear direction in advising and instructing staff in details of work Organize, conduct and/or attend meetings to obtain and disseminate pertinent informationSupportive Functions Backup for Payroll and General Cashier Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor Special projects as assigned by management or ownershipSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises Accounting staff to include Hiring, Training, Coaching, Discipline, and Performance Evaluations. QualificationsDESIRED COMPETENCIES, WORK SKILLS, AND KNOWDLEGE REQUIREDTo perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies.
