REPORTS TO: VP & Chief Clinical Officer GRADE: 29CLASSIFICATION: ExemptATTRIBUTES: ManagementSALARY EST.: $230,000 - $280,000 / yearThe Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for providing clinic specific oversight of Behavioral Health Program and its staff and psychiatric assessments, medication assessments and medication management as part of the Behavioral Health program and in compliance with applicable CommuniCare Policies and Procedures and other outside regulatory laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Provides initial psychiatric assessments, medication assessments and medication management as part of the Behavioral Health program, patient diagnosis, and treatment for adults and children. Assures continuity of care by providing Behavioral Health services on a timely basis as per Clinic schedule within the Center''s scope of practice and the mid-levels training. 2. Responsible for working with the VP & Chief Clinical Officer to assure that the mission and vision of CommuniCare is communicated and practiced by the Behavioral Health providers assigned and that optimal productivity, patient satisfaction and service excellence scores are achieved and best practices to the Behavioral Health providers that they are assigned.3. Participate in the interviewing and recommendation for the hiring, retaining, coaching, disciplining and termination of providers. Ensure appropriate clinical assignments, holiday clinic schedules and adequate provider coverage at respective clinical sites. Direct supervision of behavioral health licensed clinical staff and prescriptive authority of psychiatric mid-level providers.4. Responsible for assuring each assigned Behavioral Health provider is functioning at 100% productivity, providing excellent clinical outcomes and completing assigned chart audits (Peer Record Review) in a timely manner.5. Follows established departmental and clinic policies, procedures, and objectives; continuous quality improvements objectives and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Maintains appropriate productivity standards of specialty as established by the Center; maintains appropriate and efficient patient flow and minimize schedule changes and absences. 6. Supports the organization by participating in at least two (2) health promotional, education and /or prevention programs (i.e. Behavioral Health collaborative / Health Fairs etc.) or organizational events (i.e. Annual Gala, Wellness Program, Annual giving drive, CommuniCaring for Each Other, etc.) Lastly, punctually attending and participating monthly / departmental meetings and other clinic functions as required by the Center.7. Work with the Operation Division Leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate designated clinic site ensuring efficient, effective, and continuous improvement in clinical operation. Directly responsible for assigned provider performance appraisals, advocates provider concerns and issues, and monitors standards of performance and quality of patient care through a peer review system.8. Generates and/or recommends Behavioral Health protocols to govern the delivery of clinical care throughout the Center that are consistent with standards of care; participates in analysis of community health problems and in the development of the Center''s Strategic Plan and other Project Plans, develops and reviews the Center''s budget, fee schedules and staffing patterns appropriate for patient care.9. Reviews patient satisfaction survey of your clinical staff to check for trends of any unfavorable quality practice or issue and recommend corrective action; assure that patient satisfaction surveys are at 94% or above for each Behavioral Health provider. Provides excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs.10. Completes thorough documentation of each patient''s visit in the electronic health record and ensures encounters are closed within 24 hours in accordance with the Center''s established Health Information Management policies and procedures.11. Recommends program planning and development approach that promotes behavioral services continuum for the provision of services within the County. 12. Addresses UDS and HEDIS clinical measures at all patient visits and attain the highest compliance rates which are tracked daily on the dash boards.13. Responsible for assuring each assigned behavioral health provider are functioning at or above the 90th percentile in productivity and providing and documenting excellent clinical outcomes based on their members'' panel and completion of assigned chart reviews at 100%.14. Performs other related duties as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited Medical SchoolMust possess a current unrestricted license to practice Behavioral Health in the State of TexasMust possess a current unrestricted license and DEA in the State of TexasStrong experience with EMR/EMR systemsMinimum 5 years'' experience in Behavioral HealthMinimum 2 years'' experience supervising behavioral health cliniciansCertified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart AssociationKnowledge of budgets and fiscal managementResidency in psychiatry and / or child and adolescent psychiatryKnowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric AssociationAnnual continuing med Behavioral Health education as required by Board specialtyBoard certification preferredBilingual in English/Spanish preferredScheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to changeREQUIRED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials. Ability to accurately view computer monitorsPhysical: Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 25 lbs; push and pull up to 45 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.
