"” SENIOR EDITOR JOB DESCRIPTIONCompany Overview:Papercutz, a middle-grade comics publisher that creates imaginative new worlds with more than 17 years in the industry, is looking for a full-time Senior Editor to join our team.Full Job Description:The Senior Editor will manage several comic book series development, scheduling, coordination, and production. This position works closely with the Publishing Director. It will support and advise as needed on all editorial aspects of the Mad Cave catalog, its subsidiaries, and any other special projects when necessary. Additionally, the senior editor will work with other departments within the company, including P.R and Marketing, and creative teams to produce publications on time and with accuracy. Therefore, solid communication (both written and verbal), multitasking, and organizational skills are critical to success. Candidates must have significant prior professional experience editing comics or graphic novels and should have a significant portfolio of editorial work. The position is a full-time, salaried, fully remote position with the possibility of career advancement.Reports to the Editorial Director. Specific Responsibilities Include:Working with the Publishing Director in developing a publishing strategy; conceptualizing and acquiring titles for Papercutz.Responsible for overseeing all editorial aspects of book development, including script and art editing and development, copywriting, and other marketing copy as required.Maintaining publishing/production schedules and meeting deadlines.Developing and maintaining relationships with authors, agents, and industry organizations.Participating in editorial meetings.Presenting titles at sales meetings and elsewhere as required.Representing the Mad Cave imprint at industry and public conventions.Representing the Mad Cave imprint online and in media.Establish and implement systems for departmental workflow.Train and supervise junior editorial staff in best practices to ensure content is on-brand and consistent in style, quality, and tone.Brainstorm with the editorial group on new directions or creators for existing licensed books, new creator-owned titles, and potential new licenses to pursue.Leverage market knowledge and industry relationships to identify and develop new projects and business opportunities.Work closely with the Marketing, P.R, and Sales departments.Assist Marketing with mapping out creative direction and strategy for all titles under your supervision.Coordinate production of marketing materials.Prepare monthly comic-book solicitations and cover images for your titles and review those of your team.Other duties as needed.
