The position will lead and manage a group of scientists to provide bioanalytical support to Gastrointestinal and Neuroscience Drug Discovery Units for developing diverse modality therapeutics and biomarkers. The individual will prepare the bioanalytical strategy, lead and organize all innovative bioanalytical activities in-house or via CROs to support projects effectively and efficiently.The position is expected to have an impressive record of accomplishments and publications in the bioanalysis and/or related areas and have extensive knowledge in the area of bioanalytical assay development and troubleshooting for LC/MS, LBA, PCR based assays, drug discovery and development, and regulatory compliance of bioanalytical studies.The individual must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and proven track record of managing, developing and inspiring scientist.Join Takeda as an Associate Director, Bioanalytical and Biomarker, based in San Diego, CA.How you will contribute:ACCOUNTABILITIESThe individual will serve as the group leader and lead bioanalytical scientist to provide the bioanalytical support with close interaction with on development projects to interact with DDU project leaders, DMPK and DSRE representatives, PTS Operations, Reagent Sourcing, CBID, CRO reps, and other pertinent study personnel. Effectively communicate with the internal stakeholders regarding the bioanalytical and biomarker project support strategies, assay needs, study progress updates, and bioanalytical deliverables. Plan with bionanalytical and biomarker scientists on study activities to meet the established timelines. Prioritize and re-prioritize activities as needed to deal with urgent and critical requests.Serve as the scientific leader to guide all the activities of team scientists. Anticipate and mitigate potential technical issues and bottlenecks for in-house activities. Provide necessary scientific oversight for outsourced work on method transfer/adoption, development/re-development, qualification/validation, sample analysis, and data delivery.Actively follow the trend of the industry and seek novel solutions to meet assay needs. Develop and/or adopt new technologies for addressing the new scientific challenges in project support. Mentor team scientists as necessary.Proactively identify opportunities for self or group member to update professional skills through training or participating in conferences. Contribute regularly in external presentations and publications.Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related fields with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience. MS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields with a minimum of 13 years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech industrial experience.BS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related fields with a minimum of 15 years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotech industrial experience.Must have supervisory experience. PREFERRED EXPERTISE: Expert level knowledge and working experience in bioanalytical chemistry and at least one of following technical areas: hybrid-LC/MS, immunoassays, and/or PCR/RT-PCR assays with excellent capability in troubleshooting. Familiar with pharmaceutical discovery and development processes and relevant regulatory guidelines on bioanalytical assays.
