DescriptionEmployee-owned Kitchell seeks an experienced and dedicated Project Manager to join our Southern California region in Oceanside and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented Construction Services companies in the United States. An individual is needed with specific Division of the State Architect (DSA) experience in either the K-12 or the Community College Education Construction Market Sector. OverviewReports to the Program Manager, and provides the planning, coordination, and direction for construction management activities. Duties includes ensuring the project is on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contract. This is a client facing positions with direct reports at the project site.Duties and Responsibilities Providing program, project, and construction management services on a (DSA) Higher Education / Community College program / project Responsible for overall strategy and implementation of a program / projects Manage the procurement phase and development of RFQs and RFPs Design management and managing client user groups Oversight of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure relation and compliance to project requirements Responsible for quality control and assurance of projects in design and in construction Coordinate, direct, and monitor activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities Manage project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the client Conduct project meetings and provide documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information Ensure contractor, architect, engineer, will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment Provide management of project logistics, organization, and safety Ensure project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for final project delivery to the owner Responsible to manage a team of direct reports Perform other duties as required to ensure project successRequirementsEducation and Experience Bachelor''s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent is preferred 5 or more years of experience as a Construction Project Manager is strongly preferred Experience with the Department of the State Architect (DSA) projects in either Community College or K-12 market sectors is required Experience with the Design Phase in the Education sector is highly preferredCCM credential is highly preferredKnowledge and SkillsKnowledge and application of construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, techniques, materials, applications, and practices are requiredClear understanding of program and project schedules and budgets, monthly updates and forecasts is neededStrong oral and written communication skills are requiredStrong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products, and experience with project related systems such as Prolog, Sure Track, and Primavera are requiredWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office and/or construction environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
