OverviewThe DevSci Informatics group is looking for an Informatics Analyst to develop statistical, machine learning, and deep learning models. The candidate will perform diverse scientific data analysis in alignment with scientific objectives in Development Sciences. Development Sciences (DevSci) is a translational science organization that plays a critical role in Genentech Research and Early Development as well as late-stage development of our products at Roche. DevSci supports drug discovery and development projects across all therapeutic areas from discovery to launch and beyond. We are poised at a unique time when large volumes of complex and varied internal and external data for DevSci areas such as Biomarker, PK/PD, Diagnostics, Safety Assessment and Bio-Analytical Sciences need to be readily accessible to ensure that swift interpretation and decision making can occur. These data impact decisions in ongoing preclinical and clinical programs, and provide key knowledge to inform new target discovery. DevSci Informatics is accountable for leading the strategy and execution around data lifecycle management, data standards, analyses, ongoing data operations and informatics systems. Mentored opportunities for career development.Essential Functions Apply cutting-edge machine learning/deep learning methods to scientific domains. Collaborate with scientific stakeholders to develop models and communicate results/recommendations to meet scientific needs. Access, process, visualize, and analyze large volumes of diverse data. Work with scientists, research associates, clinical scientists, statisticians, and database specialists across the company. Lead technical discussions and present key findings for internal meetings.Required Skills/experiences Experience with machine learning/deep learning concepts and algorithms with a track record of applying them towards solving scientific problems. Experience in disease modeling, survival analysis, signal processing, digital biomarker development, and/or applied statistics. Expert in Python programming. R or additional languages a plus. Applied knowledge of AI platforms, technologies, and techniques (e.g. TensorFlow, Theano, Keras, scikit-learn...). Familiarity with data visualization software (Tableau/Spotfire) or packages. Previous biopharma experience is a huge plus. Passionate about solving technical problems and applying novel technologies to further scientific goals. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent people and written/verbal communication skills.
