We have already demonstrated that it''s possible to manufacture core quantum components using the standard and scalable manufacturing processes of a world-leading semiconductor fab.There''s more work to be done and we are looking for exceptional talent to join us on this extraordinary journey!Position Summary:The Cryogenics Control Engineer drives and supports design, development, operation and implementation of cryogenic refrigeration process controlTasks, Duties & Responsibilities:Develop cryogenic process controls execution strategies in conjunction with overall project development teamParticipation in P&ID (piping & Instrumentation diagram) development, operability and hazard reviewsIdentify and manage process controls technical risk itemsAuthor, check or approve specifications of process control equipment including control valves, relief valves, flow measurement devices, process instrumentation, analytical systems, and DCS (distributed control system), PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition systems)Review SIL (Safety Integrity Level) assessments and author SIL verificationsParticipate in Control System Design reviewsParticipate in Factory Acceptance Testing of Process Automation equipment (DCS, Analyzers, PDC)Production and maintenance of instrument summariesParticipate in Cryostats and CryoPlant commissioningParticipate in preparing cost estimates for valves, instrumentation, analytical equipment, DCS equipment, SIS equipment and laborOther duties and responsibilities as assigned Requirements B.Sc., M.Sc., or Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Physics5-10+ years of experience applying engineering principles to solve complex problems related to thermal/fluid systems, LNG plant, superconducting undulator, Synchrotron Radiation and/or cryogenicsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience working with cryogenic systems, cryostats, cryocoolers and cryoplantTechnical knowledge and experience with Cryogenic equipment, controls and processesAbility to provide technical leadership in ambiguous situationsStrong organization skills to prioritize workloadAble to demonstrate a deep understanding of the design and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for process plantsExperience developing BPCS / SIS architectures, control applications, and hardware specifications using Siemens PCS7.
