Manufacturing Operations Intern

OverviewAs a Manufacturing Operations Intern you will be working with industry professionals focused on internal process improvements related to the safety, productivity and efficiency of the plant and shipping processes. In this role, you will be a valued member of a cross-functional team that will focus on solutions to production issues and constraints. This position will report to the Plant Manager.ResponsibilitiesImprove line productivity by working with team members and engineers to perform manufacturing layouts, product movement diagrams, material handling planning, and Kanban evaluations.Evaluate work in process (WIP) issues and recommend changesTrack material movements and processing times using spreadsheets and other digital toolsEvaluate shipping and truck loading procedures to improve dock efficiencyHelp develop and maintain process documentationWork with the team to evaluate and maintain employee safe working conditionsOther duties as assigned.QualificationsMust be currently enrolled as a sophomore or above in a business related course of study.Highly motivated to achieve the objectives and goals of the business as defined by the cross-functional team.Must be able to work effectively in a team environment with the ability to handle multiple tasks.Must be detailed, and have to ability to work independently and effectively when requiredGood leadership abilities.Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
