Job Description

The Engineering Specialist will be responsible or BMS battery algorithm development, including modeling, algorithm designs, implementation, and validation, for various applications such as UPS or energy storage applications. This individual will also be responsible for driving the use and adoption of model-based techniques during the NPI process. This includes the use of Model in the Loop (MIL) and Hardware in the Loop (HIL) methodologies during the design and this function you will:Develop and implement battery management algorithms such as State of Charge (SoC), State of Health (SoH), thermal management, and life predictionInitiate and lead design reviews and technical discussions, including brainstormingDevelop battery models for performance and lifetime to support algorithm needsSupport battery cell and module testing for characterizationDevelop test plans and procedures for algorithm validationValidate the algorithms on HIL and labWork closely with the battery system, electrical, and FW engineers to implement, validate and test the algorithms.QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:Bachelor''s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.Minimum of 7 years of related engineering experience in the development of firmware for energy storage, power conversion, or battery management system product.Minimum of 1 year of experience developing physics-based and empirical models for battery modeling.Minimum of 1 year of experience with developing plans, verifying algorithms, battery testing and characterization.Minimum of 1 year of experience with battery management system (BMS) requirements and functionalityMinimum of 1 year of experience with different types of Li-Ion battery technology, their performance, and characteristics.Preferred qualifications:Master''s degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, Software Engineering or similar from an accredited institution.Experience in model-based battery algorithm development (e.g., Simulink Coder)Experience in battery algorithm validation with Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) (e.g., OPAL-RT)Understanding of safety, compliance, and regulatory standards (UL1642, UL1973, UL9540, etc.)Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team membersDemonstrated knowledge of engineering processesPossess Six Sigma CertificationBilingual in English/Korean or English/ChinesePosition requires up to 10% travel domestic and international.SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONSbattery management systemsalgorithm developmentenergy storage
