Please review the job details below. Aerospace Radiometry Software Engineer Maxar is currently seeking an Aerospace Engineer for Radiometry to join our team in Longmont, CO. Life with Us Your Project: The Rad iometric C alibration, A ssessment and M onitoring ( RadCAM ) team performs commissioning of new Maxar Earth-imaging platforms while maintaining the accuracy and performance of the existing on-orbit constellation. In this new position, you will support radiometric calibration and image quality assessment activities by contributing to scientific software deployed to Amazon Web Services ( AWS ) . To be successful in this position, you will need to effectively work collaboratively and independently in a modern software development environment. As an ideal candidate, you must have the ability to grow in subject matter expertise over the span of several years through on-the-job training and experience. Your work will include automating RadCAM c loud -e nabled s ervices while improving the underlying functionality of the service/ scientific core . You will work with Maxar Subject Matter Experts (SME s ) to design and commission new imaging sensors while maintaining and improving the current Maxar space imaging constellation and RadCAM cloud - enabled services. T he ideal candidate has a passion for image science and cloud-based software development. What you''ll do day-to-day (with your colleagues): * Collaboratively engineer cloud - based software for innovative data analysis* Perform relative and absolute radiometric calibration during initial satellite operations and throughout the life of sensors to meet mission image quality requirements* Statistical analysis and image processing algorithm development with Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) datasets* Automation of RadCAM workflows and refactoring existing processes as cloud applications* Manage and order imagery to support all aspects of sensor calibration and assessment* Learn end-to-end image processing chain from sensor electronics to the production of radiometric product s in traceable Standard International (SI) u nits* Engage in field work activities as needed for absolute radiometric calibration. This may include travel and field work for up to two weeks at a time* Support ongoing E arth imaging operations* Establish and maintain effective working relationships within and between teams* Prepare and give presentations to peers, management , and scientific community* Mentor junior colleagues Minimum requirements for this position: * Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain Secret security clearance* Bachelor''s degree in software engineering, remote sensing systems, data science, physics, engineering, optical sciences, or a related field . Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree* Minimum of 5 years of e xperience in remote sensing, image processing, or statistical analysis* Experience with developing and maintaining cloud-based software* Experience with image processing using Python or other high-level programming languages* Ability to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted and work outside for numerous hours to support field collection for absolute radiometric calibration activities* Comfortable working in a Linux computing environment These skills would be amazing: * Master''s degree in related field* Active Secret clearance* Detailed knowledg e of digital imaging systems, remote sensing operations and radiometric calibration* Experience with statistical processing techniques and large sets of measurement data* AWS/Cloud computing certifications* Knowledge and experience working with a Geographic Information System (GIS) The compensation range for this position is $83,000 to $138,000 annually, dependent on skills and experience Maxar employees must follow all applicable Maxar policies and COVID-19 requirements as well as those of Maxar customers and third parties.
