Job Title: Network Specialist III Job Location: Aberdeen, MD Overview: Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Specialist to provide infrastructure support for the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) at Aberdeen Proving Ground. This is a full-time position. Major Duties & Responsibilities: Direct/monitor information systems operations. Design, build, and implement network systems. Troubleshoot network performance issues. Analyze network traffic and provide capacity planning solutions. Monitor and respond to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems. Interface with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. Manage the testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems. Perform system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, OS, and other platform specifications. Support system engineering related tasks including major systems design, integration, and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment. Provide quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing software products. Provide assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations. Monitor and respond to hardware, software, and network problems. Troubleshoot network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network. Qualifications: 7+ years experience in network administration or engineering. Bachelor''s degree in a related field. Must be Security+ certified and hold a computing environment certification (i.e. A+, CCENT, CCNA) in compliance with DoD 8570 IAT II. Experience with TCP/IP, firewalls, routing, VLANs, general network troubleshooting, routers, switches, firewalls, proxy, UPS, web content filtering (e.g. Bluecoat technologies). Experience maintaining hardware and software, configuration baselines, backup and recovery. Experience with Windows and Unix system administration including troubleshooting, monitoring, and support, and Windows event and performance monitoring. Experience with resource allocation and utilization for large databases, disk configuration including the maintenance of hardware and software RAID 1-N, database design, data modeling and query execution, database replication, migration, backup and recovery, scripting languages (bash, powershell, python, ruby, perl), database performance tuning, capacity planning and bottleneck resolution, administration of Microsoft SQL Server, building and maintaining high-availability, clustered and scalable systems, advanced web technologies ASP.NET pipeline, load balancing, etc. Experience managing a production environment with the following: automated install, automated build and deployment, automated configuration management, enterprise monitoring systems, server virtualization, load balancing, web servers, and application servers, Microsoft server operating systems and middleware, server configuration and installation, performance and network monitoring tools, operating systems upgrades and migrations, strong troubleshooting skills with hardware and software, routing protocols BGP, EIGRP and OSPF, Layer 2, and Cisco VSS, VSP. Experience with performance and network monitoring, operating systems upgrades and migrations, and troubleshooting hardware and software. Solid customer service and communication skills are critical as well as the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner. Must be a US Citizen and hold a current Secret clearance.
