*United States Citizenship and Active Security Clearance Required* DESCRIPTION OF POSITION/DUTIES: Conduct and/or lead analysis to develop guidance, navigation and control and fire control requirements to defeat various threats within the Missile Defense Agency''s mission area. Provide technical input for interceptor performance models, as well as assist in the assessment of aerodynamic and physical behaviors of threat systems. Perform trade studies to identify GNC concepts to defeat hypersonic, non-hypersonic and ballistic missile threats. Provide analysis to set requirements for successful engagement threat systems in areas such as weapon launch volume, intercept volume and launch timing. Participate in development of modeling and simulation capabilities to accurately represent expected missile system characteristics from launch through intercept. Serve as an SME within the team in the areas of endo-atmospheric flight dynamics and guidance, navigation and control. Develop technical briefing materials and other supporting documentation for use within the team and for coordination with MDA stakeholders. The position is in Huntsville, AL. Secret clearance required. YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: * 20+ EDUCATION: * Degree and experience in an engineering classification, mathematics, or physics: Bachelor''s, Master''s or PhD. SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications : United States Citizenship RequiredIndividual must demonstrate significant experience in performance analysis, design and integration of GNC systems for use missile systems, with a focus on mid-course and terminal phases. Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of stressing system behaviors for high-speed flight. Must demonstrate experience developing and/or contributing to the development of mathematical-based modeling to characterize flight behaviors, to include development of fire control solutions. Must demonstrate experience with guidance, navigation and control principles of missile systems. Candidate must demonstrate ability to think critically to develop and capture concepts in technical papers, presentations, and discussions. Individual must possess good oral and written communication skills. Capable of working in focused teams as an independent individual contributor. Desired Qualifications : Demonstrated experience designing, modeling and simulating super-sonic and hypersonic missile systems. Design, modeling and analysis experience of ground to air and air to air interceptors and integrated sensor weapon systems. Strong numerical modeling and simulation capability using a high-level programming language such as MATLAB, Python, FORTRAN, or similar language environment. Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems (e.g., aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures), a discriminator in selection.
