You will certainly find a ''mountain family'' atmosphere at WYMT. Job Summary/Description: WYMT is looking for a reporter to join our expanding morning news team. This position will perform daily live shots, breaking news coverage, as well as fill-in anchor for the morning newscast. This position is fast paced with tight deadlines and requires someone who can think on their feet. We are looking for a great storyteller. You must have the desire and ability to uncover unique, enterprising stories, and tell those stories in an engaging presentation. WYMT has a proven record of turning out solid journalists capable of moving up the ranks quickly. We have several reporters and producers working in Top 20 markets and higher. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • The ideal candidate has the potential and drive to fill-in anchor, when needed.• You will work with the News Director and Morning EP on daily story selection and setup for your morning live shots. • Write and post copy daily on all digital platforms, social media, news apps, and OTT channels as new information is learned. • Report live for morning newscast daily - excellent live skills in day-to-day and breaking news coverage• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), proven news judgement, ethics, and integrity.• Strong work ethic, organizational, and leadership skills. • Must be able to work quickly, make deadlines, multi-task and show composure, especially during breaking news.• Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: • Degree in broadcast journalism or one year news experience.• Print journalists are encouraged to apply.
