A Huntsville-based government contractor has an immediate need for a Software Airworthiness Engineer to join their renowned team of engineering professionals.The Software Airworthiness Engineer conducts software safety, airworthiness, and mission assurance evaluations for DoD aviation systems and supports the software system requirements identification and development process by evaluating and assessing planning, design, development, production, and operations for DoD aviation software systems architectures. You''ll perform software airworthiness analysis throughout the software life cycle from initial requirements through design, implementation, testing, delivery, and support.The successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills to maintain successful daily interactions with the customer and teammates. They have the ability to operate proactively and handle significant responsibility. Attention to detail is a must. This is a full-time position with a salary based on experience. We have an ongoing need for these skills. Candidates with an ABET-accredited BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science of all experience levels are encouraged to apply. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including extensive health, life, and disability insurance plans, coverage for dental and vision, a competitive 401(K), paid time off PLUS ten paid government holidays.Desired skills and experience:Experience with Aviation SW SystemsKnowledge of the Airworthiness Release (AWR) processExperience with the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD)Experience developing embedded mission-critical software in C, C++, or ADAFamiliarity with software development/lifecycle such as IEEE 12207, MIL-STD-498Experience with Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and/or Failure Mode, Effects & Critically Analysis (FMECA)Knowledge of Army Military Airworthiness Certification Criteria (AMACC) or MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification CriteriaWorking knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516, DO-178, MIL-STD-882, JSSSEH, AMCOM Regulation 385-17, SAE ARP 4761, or similar software safety standardsKnowledge of the integration and verification of large systemsKnowledge of static and dynamic code analysisExperience with Model-Based Software DevelopmentFamiliarity with MATLAB and Simulink, Rhapsody, DOORS, SCADE, etc.This position requires an active security position.
