Position Summary Scot Forge is a 125 year-old, 100% employee-owned company that manufactures custom open die and rolled ring forgings. This is a 2nd shift position hours are 11am-9pm. The Maintenance Technician position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and preventative maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the sites business goals and objectives. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Actively participate in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment for the department. Follow policies, programs and procedures for the reduction and elimination of industrial accidents, provide quality feedback to promote safer work behaviors and conditions. Initiate accident / incident investigations when necessary, and inform Safety Director and Plant Manager of any accidents or equipment damage that occurs.Perform technical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair on a wide variety of equipment such as heating, cooling fans, compressors, cranes, furnaces, material handling equipment and all production machines which include but not limited to the working knowledge and skills of hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and mechanics.Assist in design and installation or relocation of struct and train less experienced workers during repair projects.Repair and fabricate performing welding, plasma cutting, brazing, carbon arcing and torch operations as required.Program and operate forge and heat treat furnaces as needed.Perform all duties in accordance with appropriate guidelines for hazardous and non-hazardous waste plete production time cards ensuring that accurate records are maintained.Use time productively to ensure efficient departmental productivity.Understand and follow the Scot Forge quality policy.Analyze procedures, recommend/implement measures to improve efficiency, safety, quality, production and/or equipment performance.Maintain effective and open communication with Supervisors/Management/Co-workers on any matters impacting the production and/or distribution of the product. Work in cooperation with all fellow employee owners to sustain a strong team atmosphere.Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.Be part of teams that implement ideas to improve uptime of plant equipment through equipment modifications, layout adjustments, and general machine maintenance.Perform safety check on chains, cranes and forklifts and follow Safe Start Principles. Keep needed inventory stocked and research and order parts as needed to complete daily tasks.Keep accurate/detailed records of all work completed in JDE computer system as well as create and update P.M.s as needed.Closing Statement Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.Perform all maintenance duties following lockout/tagout and fall protection procedures where required.This position will work under the direction of the department supervisor and the Flex labor manager. This position may be required to learn/develop additional skills to flex to other departments/locations/shifts in order to service the business needs and meet customer expectations.Qualifications High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.Minimum 3 years experience, the ability to use mathematics together with the analytical use ofcomplicated wiring diagrams, is able to use various types of precision measuring instruments.Prefer electro-mechanical experience in manufacturingAdditional Requirements Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S. without sponsorship. Ability to pass a lift evaluation (up to 65 lbs.) pre-employment. Must be able to pass a hair drug test.
