Director of EngineeringOur client is a Global Electronics manufacturer, headquartered in Buffalo, NY.They are currently looking to add another senior manager to their manufacturing team - the Director of Engineering - a key strategic executive responsible for leading, advancing, and overseeing the technology platform of the USA factory. The Director of Technology is responsible for implementing the North American actions within the global overall strategic technology plan of the organization. The Director of Engineering is also responsible for the execution of technical responsibilities for North American originated design and technical project activities.Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Engineering will set the tone and cadence for the factory''s continuous improvement across their technology platform and new product development process through the integration and discipline of data management, software integration and other technology that assists in the manufacturing process. The incumbent will concurrently:Manage and delegate the execution of both short-term and long-term design projects within the organization, and process such projects using the defined, established M gate processes.Lead and manage personnel in the execution of product design and configuration maintenance activities through a defined, measured Engineering Change process.Lead and delegate actions of a Material Review Board for the assessment and disposition of nonconforming directly supervise the action of the engineering and prototype test lab.Actively liaison and coordinate local engineering activities with those of other company sites, and synchronize with the global technical leadership team in the company''s matrix organizational structure.The incumbent will develop and build a team of strong and diverse technologists who are focused on delivering outstanding engineering, information, timely completion of assigned tasks, and responsiveness to inquiries from other departments.Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide technical and engineering leadership throughout the Company, including guidance and direction to the engineering and design teams, talent management, and resource management.Manage engineering projects including but not limited to BOM''s, ECN''s, Design for Cost, Design for Quality; meet project timelines and budgets.Serve as the primary interface between Engineering, Production, Quality and Sales (including customer dialogue).Provide customer support at all levels, including customer visits when appropriate.Oversee budget responsibility for the technology department within the factory. Lead the technology department in an efficient and cost-effective way to achieve targets defined annually regarding Company strategies within a defined budget.Recruit, lead, manage, coach and mentor a team of engineers and related technical personnel to achieve assigned initiatives and projects.Develop standards and procedures to ensure development and current engineering projects are achieved and technical standards and technical documentation are spire others to be innovative and open to change, promoting and supporting sustained improvements and collaboration with others throughout the organization.Participate in the selection and recommendation of new technology and ideas that are aligned with the overall business strategies of the company.Know and understand the corporate vision, strategy, and the multiyear technology vision and your role in making those visions reality.Directly contribute to the development of annual performance improvement priorities and actively manage the projects and action plans which will advance the company in support of the vision, strategy, and annual targets.Where tasked, effectively manage projects in accordance with corporate policies and reporting standards to reliably report and deliver projects on time and within budget. Qualifications A Bachelor''s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college is required; an advanced technical degree or MBA preferred.10+ years of technology leadership experience at a manufacturing company that practices lean, innovative technologies to produce best-in-class products.
