Under the supervision of the physician(s), Emergency Department Director, and Registered Nurses, provides direct patient care and supports the Emergency Department as needed. Continuously maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Assist health care professionals (doctors, advance practice providers, and nurses) in the direct delivery of patient care. Perform Triage 1 and 2, assesses the patients conditions, notifies the nurses and/or doctors, and assists in the development of individual care plans for the patient. Perform medication reconciliation and administers approved medications. Continuously and accurately records data in the EMR and notifies appropriate RN. Frequently perform/provide patient care duties, comfort measures, and general hygiene as delegated by the RN. Continuously interact with patients/significant others as a member of the healthcare team. Maintain exam rooms, utility rooms, supply/storage rooms, and triage room in a ready state at all times. Maintain, organizes, and sets up special equipment to promote efficiency. Independently locates and prepares procedure trays upon request of the nursing and/or medical staff. Continuously provide support and assistance to other staff, promoting a team approach to patient care. Continuously demonstrate ability to prioritize work and adapt to changes in workload. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Knowledge of current theories of professional nursing practice and principles to provide comprehensive acute and outpatient health care to patients based on a wide range of physical, emotional, cultural, social and medical factors affecting these patients. Ability to complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner. Ability to take direction from the RN/Medical Staff and seek assistance appropriately. Knowledgeable regarding body mechanics and lifting techniques. Demonstrate excellent communication skills. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, clerical staff and the public. Set up for and assist in procedures requiring local anesthetic only. Communicate clearly. Function and/or communicate under stress and maintain professional behavior. Demonstrate positive customer service orientation toward the patient, family, physician, clients, and co-workers. General clerical skills including, but not limited to operation of: copier, fax, computer. Education: Graduate of certified Medical Assistant program, certified with a Washington State Health Care Assistance level A, C, and E. BCLS certification required. Experience: Preference given to applicants with minimum of one year of clinical experience in related practice.+
