ABS and the ABS affiliated companies offer a dynamic work environment and multiple avenues for career growth.Principal Geotechnical EngineerResponsible for performing a variety of professional-level engineering tasks in his/her areas of expertise. May act independently act as the engineer in responsible charge for smaller projects, and for portions of larger or complex projects. May assume project management responsibility for smaller projects, or for subtasks of larger or complex projects. When not assuming project management responsibility, will take technical direction on a project and assignment-specific basis from their supervisor. May be assigned to several projects concurrently, and on each project, assignment may report for technical direction to a different supervisor. The Principal Engineer position is a professional-level technical position, with limited responsibility for performing management tasks.This role has a hybrid work schedule with Monday and Friday remote and Tuesday thru Thursday at our modern corporate headquarters in Spring, Texas.What You Will Do:Develops budgets and schedules for assigned projects and project tasks, within requirements of contracts and subject to the approval of Project and Regional Management. Initiates project set up and project management files for projects or sub-projects of moderate complexity. Acts in responsible charge, while directly performing assigned engineering tasks in conformance with the Company''s quality standards and the project budget and schedule. Provides direction and oversight of Engineers, Lead Engineers and Project Engineers assigned to assist the Principal Engineer in execution of project responsibilities. Initiates and maintain communication with clients and contractors for purposes of technical coordination of project requirements. Assists in technical training and mentoring of Engineers, Lead Engineers, and Project Engineers. Participates in marketing of the Company''s services to client contacts and to new clients, as assigned by management. Assists in collection of payment for project work from clients, as assigned by Supervisor. Prepares and submits time charge records, expense reports, invoice approvals, and collections status notices in a timely manner in accordance with Company procedures. What You Will NeedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to utilize basic personal computer applications including spreadsheets, word processors, email, and Internet browsers. Ability to communicate technical aspects of projects and of work assignments to peers, subordinates, and clients. Ability to direct the execution of moderately complex engineering tasks. Needs to be familiar with the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System. (Internal candidates only.) Should have advanced practical industry related experience and can work in multi-disciplinary teams with minimal technical supervision and can use technical skills to think strategically and to provide powerful insights. Knowledge of related technical disciplines:Experience in design and installation of foundations for offshore structures is vital. The candidate should have the ability to interpret and verify the results of site-investigation, geotechnical design, and foundation structural design according to class rules and industry standards. Familiar with fixed/floating systems anchors design such as suction anchors, driven piles, drag anchors, and other types of anchors/foundation. Familiar with subsea foundations design such as mud mats, jetted piles, hybrid foundations, and suction piles, or offshore wind foundation design such as monopiles, jacket foundations. Experience in foundation structural analysis and finite element software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, etc. Experience in the other aspects of offshore platform design such as global performance, mooring, SURF or structural analyses is preferred. Education & ExperienceMinimum years of Experience:Bachelor of Science degree in appropriate engineering discipline (or recognized equivalent) Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience. Required/Preferred Education Requirements:Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required. Master of Science degree in the engineering discipline (or recognized equivalent) is preferred. Required/Preferred Professional Requirements:You must possess, or be able to obtain, a DoD SECRET security clearance. Country Requirements:You must be a United States citizen or Greencard holder. Reporting Relationships:You will report to the Managing Principal Engineer Direct Reports:You will not have any direct reports. Working Conditions:Work is primarily sedentary.
