Ten Thousand Villages is seeking a new Director of Brand + Marketing to lead the brand, marketing and communication efforts of the organization. This leadership position is key to increasing brand relevance and engagement with the ultimate goal of increasing revenue which fuels the organization''s mission impact and ongoing fair trade purchases from artisan partners around the world. Position Duties/Responsibilities: Organizational Leadership Attend and actively contribute to all Leadership Team meetings. With the Leadership Team, participate in strategic planning to establish and carry out organizational goals, policies, and procedures. Participate in annual budget process and decision making related to the organization''s strategic goals and priorities. Adopt and exemplify Ten Thousand Villages values; encourage and recognize these values in colleagues throughout the organization. Strategy & Management Lead development of Ten Thousand Villages brand and marketing plan and ensure adherence to the organizational goals including growth and profitability across multiple revenue channels. Lead the strategic development and end-to-end execution of all brand and marketing initiatives to be used in Ten Thousand Villages retail, wholesale, e-commerce and fundraising channels, and across all communication platforms, ensuring a cohesive all-channel customer experience. Own performance measurement and analysis of all marketing plans and campaigns; deliver reports to key stakeholders. Work closely with the Brand and Marketing team and other departments to design and implement brand strategies and effective messaging for organizational and project-specific goals. Responsible for building and sustaining a strong, compelling brand identity consistent with Ten Thousand Villages mission and values and ensuring brand consistency in all Ten Thousand Villages channels, collateral, communications, and events. Oversee the development of content strategy, content creation, and distribution of high quality digital and print content and assets for use on multiple platforms and to support and advance all channels. Oversee the development and implementation of highly effective and attractive brand positioning throughout the e-commerce experience. Collaborate closely with the Merchandising and Sales teams to understand and provide input into the product line based on target market insights and knowledge. Create the annual marketing calendar including key new product initiatives, system-wide promotions, and programs to increase sales and donations. Work with the Finance team and Leadership Team to develop annual budgets for brand and marketing and monitor progress, assure adherence, and evaluate performance against the budget. Supervise external partnerships that support organizational marketing and communications initiatives and goals. Ensure that the appropriate systems and procedures are in place to properly and reasonably support brand and marketing, within budget limitations. Supervise a medium number of direct reports; hire, train, coach, develop and motivate direct reports and hold them accountable. Perform additional duties/responsibilities as requested which contribute to the position''s success and the mission. Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Education/Skills/Abilities: 3+ years'' experience managing, mentoring, and empowering creative and/or marketing teams. At least five to eight years of professional experience, including leading the brand and/or marketing activities of a complex brand. Bachelor''s degree in marketing, communications, or related field, or equivalent experience, a plus. Experience in retail or multi-channel environments with knowledge of retail industry dynamics. Strong creative, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and provide both leadership and customer service to a variety of stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional ability to identify and articulate creative, efficient solutions to problems. Results driven with ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects for self and team as well as develop and meet deadlines. Proficiency with MS Office 365 including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Understanding of budget and accounting processes to develop and manage budgets and measure the financial impact of all decisions.
