DescriptionPosition Overview: The WAY Aftercare Program works with youth returning home from foster care or residential treatment centers and who are reunifying with their families. The WAY Aftercare Program utilizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as its clinical model and foundation. DBT is an evidence based approach which is user friendly and adaptable to the individual based upon skill set, need and level of trauma. DBT allows the clinician to adjust for the needs of the family based upon a variety of factors such as cultural components, different ages, substance use, SPMI and trauma. DBT is also adaptable and integrates well with a variety of other clinical models, making it an ideal format for families who are working on maintaining reunification and integrating within their communities. The WAY Home Intensive Reunification worker will have a caseload of 8-10 youth who display the most high risk behaviors and will meet with the youth and families at least four times a month.WAY to SuccessProvides mentor support to adolescents preparing to leave Childrens Village residential programs. As a WAY HOME Intensive Reunification Counselor, staff works to recruit, engage and support the young people of the WAY to Success in progressing towards their education, work and savings goals. Each WAY HOME Intensive Reunification Counselor has a specialty in financial literacy, education or employment. The counselors will run workshops according to their specialty on a monthly basis where youth participating in the program will strengthen their independent living skills. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in a related subject area. 1 year case management preferred, experience working with youth in the foster care system. Valid Driver''s License and access to a working vehicle preferred. Excellent computer skills and writing skills required. Must demonstrate understanding of the issues facing Black and Latino adolescents. Ability to work as a member of a team and can be independent when necessary. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with youth and staff.
