This position will work closely with our Trane Sales and Service organization along with the Area Service Manager to drive growth and profitability of our local Commercial HVAC business. In addition, you will help to implement business strategy and achieve business goals. Other responsibilities include participation in hiring initiatives, development of direct reports, implementation of yearly training schedules, performing safety audits, scheduling jobs, and project management. In addition to your leadership duties, you will perform hands-on HVAC service and maintenance. Responsible for end-to-end testing, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects.• Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear, and conditions.• Displays team effort and dedication to customer by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.• Identifies and prioritize projects and plans jobs in detail.• Responsible for customer satisfaction and budget for assigned projects.• Creates and revises project schedules including assign tasks.• Meets with contractors and owners to discuss scope of project; budgets; performance; and closeout.• Responsible for identifying possible cost saving opportunities and or risk items that will occur on various projects.• Maintains quality standards by supervising project assigned staff and inspecting jobsites.• Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and assigned staff.• Responsible for training and developing HVAC Field Technicians.• Supports HVAC Field Technicians by providing technical advice and offering guidance.• Ensures the quality of work by reviewing technician''s work.• Assists in scheduling, organizing, and dispatching HVAC Field Technicians.• Conducts performance appraisals in concert with service supervisory personnel to recommend raises, promotions, training, and disciplinary actions.• Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials, and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.• Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact.• Provides retraining and follow up training at customer site.• Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.• Records parts, material, labor, subs, and other cost data per assignment and returns unused resources.• Turns in all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.• Read and interpret product specifications and experience in working with building specifications, drawings, and designs.• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends as necessary.• Regular travel requirements with some overnight travel.Supervisory Responsibilities:• May directly supervise the HVAC Field Technicians, Apprentices and Helpers.• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizations policies and applicable laws.• Responsibilities may include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.Qualifications:• A High School Diploma or equivalent, or certificate of completion from an accredited technical school is required. Typically, a minimum of 10+ years of experience in HVAC. Technical School or formal training is preferred; or an equivalent combination of education (Technical School) and experience preferred.• Experience in leading a team of technicians is preferred.• Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e., Smartphone, iPad).• Must possess a valid driver''s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:o DUI in the previous 5 years.o Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.• EPA Certification Preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer etc.).Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure:• Must be able to operate a vehicle using a seat belt safely and legally.• Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties• Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction• Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands• Must be able to reach your hands over your head• Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours• This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling, and climbing ladders. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.• Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less• Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30" vertical x 45" horizontal• Must be able to access rooftops comfortably and routinely with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15'' to 20'', and occasionally, up to 50 feet +• This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on locationWe offer competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits and programs that help our employees thrive in both their professional and personal lives.
