The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is searching for an experienced, skillful Massachusetts Licensed Registered Nurse to fill a very challenging and rewarding Registered Nurse III (RN 3) position for the Wrentham Developmental Center. The RN 3 will confer with health care professionals, assess outcomes of care provided, provide training to staff related to health care procedures, participate in the orientation of new nursing personnel and perform related duties. The RN 3 will provide direct supervision to the LPN I, LPN II, RN I and RN II staff assigned to the Nursing Department and will assist in the coordination of the delivery of nursing services and supervise staff assigned to their Unit on the third shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.). Duties and Responsibilities: (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Assist with assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing services delivered to the residents. Participate in direct clinical nursing services and indirect nursing services including providing training and relaying information to staff regarding Nursing Department and Facility Policies and Procedures. Ensure Compliance with DDS, State and Federal Regulations, performs audits to measure the quality of nursing care provided. Communicate with off-site Physicians and utilize established Nursing procedures, policies and protocols to meet the health care needs of the residents. Communication and collaboration with staff at all levels throughout the facility to ensure continuity of care. Provide facility-wide supervision when necessary. Required Qualifications: Applicant must possess a current and active Massachusetts Registered Nursing (RN) license to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Incumbents must obtain and maintain Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred Qualifications : Supervisory experience. Composure to work in stressful situations, maintain a calm manner, utilize sound judgment, make decisions and act quickly in emergency situations. Ability to maintain accurate records and use discretion in handling confidential information. Excellent written and verbal skills communicate clearly and concisely in and ability to give oral instructions in a precise and understandable manner. Familiarity with safety practices and medical terminology/abbreviations. Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods and techniques. Agency Requirements: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must possess current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator''s License. Special Requirements: Designated as an EMERGENCY Position in the Department of Developmental Service''s Emergency Plan. This means that whenever the Governor declares that the Commonwealth is in a state of emergency, you will be required to report to work. Schedule Information : Full-time - 40 hour weekly position Third Shift - 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Days off: Every other weekend with days off in the alternating weeks to meet the needs of the department. Flexibility with work schedule will be required for this position.
