Job Description

Jr Battery Systems Engineer needed for a contract to hire opportunity with SOC''s client to work in Lexington Park, Maryland. US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance is required! Responsibilities Our client is seeking a junior-level Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineer with Battery Systems focus/experience to provide support for our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Park/Patuxent River, MD. In this position you will have the opportunity to be part of the Navy''s Power & Energy Division, developing critical capabilities to support the fleet. The primary duties include serving as a team member in support of battery system development, evaluation, and certification. You should have a good working knowledge of modern battery system technology to include battery systems components, characteristics, and performance. You should also have knowledge, skill and experience in the development and evaluation of performance requirements, design criteria, processes, and analysis methods related to aircraft battery systems and their components. You should also be knowledgeable of potential battery system technology advancement areas and have the ability to work with industry and academia partners in the development and maturation of these technologies. * You may be required to assist the battery team lead and/or SME in the critical review of technical reports and products. Some of these products include: o MIL specs and associated slash sheets o Contractor/vendor progress reports o Qualification test plans/Qualification test reports o Lithium battery safety certification recommendation letters * Other requirements may include: o Assisting and/or leading in the development of Battery Test & Evaluation Lab (BTEL) revitalization proposals and lab equipment integration o Supporting the Electric Mission Support Equipment Infrastructure and Management Study. Evaluating the potential for replacing current diesel-powered Support Equipment (SE) with battery-powered replacements. o Supporting the Common Affordable Safe Energy Storage (CASES) Program to include Tri-service battery commonality efforts and associated activities o Review and adjudicate lithium battery safety certification requests and provide recommendations to Navy customers o Lead Small Business innovation research (SBIR), Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR), and Naval Innovation Science & Engineering (NISE) project efforts related to developmental battery systems. Qualifications * Minimum requirements are a BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or similar degree, and 1 to 5 years of experience working with battery systems. Desired Qualifications * Individual should have experience in aircraft battery systems to include both developmental and fielded battery systems. * Excellent teamwork * Presentation skills capable of defending a technical position and/or recommendation. * Good communication skills, and knowledge and experience in procedures for writing technical procedures for a non-technical audience.
