Jr Software Engineer

Description Job Description:Come put your software engineering skills into action! The Leidos Defense Group has an opening for a talented Jr Software Engineer to come join our team in Orlando, FL. In this role, you will join a dynamic Agile software team creating simulated driver training software to support the Army. You will be challenged and provided a tremendous opportunity for growth in a customer-facing, fast-paced, and engaging environment.Primary ResponsibilitiesThese are some of the cool things you will be doing:Design, develop, document, troubleshoot, and debug software source code using modern software development languages and tools.Participate in the full software development lifecycle, working within broadly defined parameters.Use Agile development tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket/Git to manage work and collaborate with your teams.Support creation and updating of all relevant documentation and specifications for design, development and testing.Identify potential roadblocks and develop around them.Plan and estimate development tasks and work to improve performance metrics.Develop maintainable code that matches specification.Take ownership of technical problems.Basic QualificationsTo be successful in this role you must have the following experience/skill sets:Requires a Bachelor''s Degree OR 2 years of relevant experience.Experience with C++/Java/C and object-oriented programmingWorking knowledge of GTK and GUI interfacesWorking knowledge of the Linux operating systemUnderstanding of software development process fundamentals.Strong, self-motivated desire to learn new programming languages, tools, frameworks, and techniques.Requires US citizenship and must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.Preferred QualificationsYou''ll wow us even more if you have any of the following:Knowledge of a version control system (e.g., Git).Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies.Experience with the Ada programming languageFamiliarity with multiple operating systems (Windows, VM VirtualBox, LINUX, etc.).Familiarity with the DIS and/or CIGI protocolsActive DoD security clearance.Pay Range:Pay Range $50,700.00 - $78,000.00 - $105,300.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
