Common Titles / Disciplines: Wireless Engineer, Wireless Network Engineer, Wireless Communications Engineer, 5G Wireless Research Engineer, 4G RAN Software Developer , 4G Core Network Installation & Test Engineer , 4G/5G Software Engineer , Modem Design Engineer, Firmware Engineer, Standardization Engineer, Wireless/Cellular RF Systems Engineer, PHY / MAC, MEC Architect, RAN EngineerCommon Responsibilities pending determined Skill Area:â—¾ Design, Development, Integration and Test of cutting edge wireless communications capabilities across infrastructure, platform, and application segments.â—¾ Drive design and specification for communications system.â—¾ Perform requirements capture and develop ICD and design documentationâ—¾ Drive design and specification for communications system.â—¾ Systems / Software development of OSI Layers 1, 2 and 3 for 4G LTE and 5G communications systemsâ—¾ Responsible for design and communications system specification development including modification of the 3GPP specs with focus being in the design, development, and testing of 5G platforms.â—¾ Participation in customer design reviews, Q&A and project status on all aspects of the network management system.â—¾ Contribute to the technical solution and overall system design and delivery of Agile releases and support the Release Train Manager on software deliveries.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSâ—¾ Experienced Wireless Communications Engineer, Developer, or Architect with proven expertise in the Infrastructure, Platform, or Application layers of 4G/5G/LTE networks.â—¾ Experience in one or more of the following core skill areas is required:â—¾ 4G/5G Software Developmentâ—¾ Core 4G/5G Baseband Engineeringâ—¾ 4G/5G Embedded Hardware / ASIC Engineeringâ—¾ Network Architecture/System Implementation (Standardization)â—¾ 5G-IoT, 5G-ML, 5G-Security (E2E)DESIRED SKILLSâ—¾ Wireless Engineering experience with an emphasis in the support of 5G, 4G/5G, 5GS, 5G Core, LTE/5G, LTE/4G/5G networks and communications protocolsâ—¾ Experience in the Control Plane, Data Plane (Virtual/Physical Network Function), Network, Hardware, Protocols, Management, Maintenance of wireless communications networks.â—¾ RF Engineering knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Radio Frequency Planning & Optimization Engineer, RF Analysis Engineer, Transmitter Design, Receiver Designâ—¾ Systems and/or Network Engineering knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Radio Access Network: Spectrum Efficiency, Cloud RAN; Core Network: SDN, SD- WAN, NFV, Internet exchange Point; Transport Network: Millimetre wave; Systems Test, Call Processing, Distributed Computing, MEC, 5G Coreâ—¾ Software Engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: PHY / MAC, MAC, 5G Integration, Embedded, ASIC, FPGAâ—¾ Hardware Engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: Small Cell, Core, MIMO, Massive MIMO, IV&V, Optical, Ultra Wide Band Network, Smart Antenna, Code Division Multiple Access Pointsâ—¾ Embedded, ASIC, FPGA Firmware Engineering Designâ—¾ Modem Design Engineering with knowledge of VLSI, VHDL, Verilog, SoC, RTL design, Python, Low-power Design, Logic Design, IC, Embedded Systemsâ—¾ Research and/or Design experience specific to mm-Wave, mmW, IoT, MIoT, PCB Design, mmWave Integration, MEC Architectureâ—¾ Knowledge or Direct Experience in support of Wireless Standards design, Network Planning, UDM Integration, and Packet Core.â—¾ Experience with 4G LTE and 5G NR (New Radio) physical layer and physical layer specifications, such as 36.100 series and 36.200 series / 38.100 series and 38.200 seriesâ—¾ Experience of modeling and simulation of 4G and/or 5G physical layerâ—¾ Experience with 4G LTE layer 2 and layer 3 specs such as 3GPP 36.3xx seriesâ—¾ Experience with protocol stack software, implementation and testingâ—¾ Software development in a real time embedded systems environmentâ—¾ Experience with 4G wireless communications and associated software development with emphasis on eNodeB Layer 2 and 3 protocols such as RRC, RLC, MAC & PDCPâ—¾ Knowledge of network management systemsâ—¾ Knowledge of 4G core network operation and user equipment interactions with a 4G base stationâ—¾ Satellite communications (SATCOM) experience and knowledge about SATCOM protocol standards (e.g. DVB-S/S2/S2x/RCS/RCS2, Geo Mobile Radio, etc.)â—¾ Linux experienceTYPICAL MINIMUMSâ—¾ Bachelor''s degree or higher from an accredited college in related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.â—¾ US Citizenship along with an active DOD clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.
