Purpose Of PositionUnder the supervision of a Micro-Tech Supervisor, and working with other technical staff, trouble-shoot end-user software and hardware problems within a network environment for Windows users of Microsoft Suite applications. Provide on-site assistance for MMSD schools. Work with other technical staff and school computer contacts to determine individual school computer hardware and software maintenance needs. Work includes setup, problem-solving, and operation of computer servers and desktop systems.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesAssisting staff with hardware/software problems. Replacing defective equipment as requested in a timely manner to ensure continued end-user productivity. Assisting in updating documentation of the LAN and desktop configurations. Maintaining communication with end-users during equipment failures. Determining the need for mobilizing other technical staff resources to solve problems.Assisting end-users in the appropriate use of computer systems & applications. Recording work in electronic work order & problem tracking database. Working with other Help Desk staff to resolve application, configuration & operating system problems. Attending training sessions and continuing professional development relevant to personal professional development plan. Performing Help Desk duty as needed. Imaging computers. QualificationsAssociate degree in Micro computing technology or related field, or a Bachelor''s degree.One year successful work experience in training and supporting users of PC, and/or network hardware and creasing progressive responsibility in Micro computing technology or related fields. Progressive and successful work experience in training and supporting users of PC, and/or network hardware and software. Valid driver''s license and provision of own transportation among schools. Experience performing on-site field hardware upgrades, technical trouble-shooting, and software installation. Excellent verbal & written communication skills. Knowledge of Intel-based, desktop computers. Knowledge of Windows-based applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word & Excel).1:1 and small group end-user software training skills. Knowledge of Novell and MS networks. Knowledge of Web development software. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of people. Demonstrated ability to proficiently troubleshoot micro-computing hardware, software and networks. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage a variety of projects concurrently. Experience working cross-culturally and or commitment to work toward improving one''s own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one''s skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas. Physical And Sensory RequirementsAbility to exert very moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Ability to work long hours and flexible schedules.Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, sounds, odors, and textures associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks. Ability to sustain prolonged visual concentration.Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including computer, telephone, calculator.Environmental Adaptability Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to site environmental factors such temperature variations or extremes, odors, noise, machinery, and/or electrical currents may cause discomfort and poses a limited risk of injury. Work involves frequent deadlines, data analysis and use of computer programs.
