OverviewBig Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area is a dynamic mentoring agency that provides Bay Area youth with professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. We are currently searching for a creative and highly organized Manager, Marketing & Communications to strategically and effectively deliver clear, consistent, and timely communications to the organization''s external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will excel at working cross-functionally, writing content with a strong background in social media, and managing a successful unified communications calendar. The Manager will be responsible for executing and managing the communications strategy of BBBSBA with the three-fold priorities of enhancing overall brand awareness, recruitment of volunteer mentors and eligible youth, and supporting the annual fund development goal . This position will support the team with content creation and editing, outreach, social media, website management, and collaborating with the BBBSBA team in furthering the message of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area. The Manager, Marketing & Communications will have the opportunity to collaborate with and support agency leadership, and will assist with all aspects of marketing as outlined in the Job Responsibilities below. Marketing is critical to create a strong brand image to our stakeholders, and we must portray a positive and professional image to better serve our community.Duties and Responsibilities:Under the direction of the VP of Development, serve as a key member involved in strategizing and carrying out communication needs for BBBSBA programming and fundraising efforts.Collaborate cross-functionally with Program, Partnerships and Development staff to create and manage a unified annual marketing and communications plan to promote programming and fundraising initiatives.Maintain consistency of look and messaging in all materials in line with overall strategic programmatic and fundraising goals of BBBSBA.OUTREACHNewsletters (design and distribution)Writing/researching content, designing and distributing agency newslettersWriting and distribution for all BBBSBA e-communications, including agency news, third-party events and signature eventsDesign and distribution of e-blasts.Serve as the agency''s social media leader, consistently generating content that positively and authentically represents BBBSBAPlace social media ads for specific, targeted campaignsTrack and present social analytics (likes/engagement/top posts)Maintain monthly blog calendar and post weekly contentConduct analysis of community engagement in line with BBBSBA to contribute to strategic discussion around fundraising and marketing strategies.Public Relations SupportResearch and develop media lists for event outreachResearch award opportunities and support CEO in gathering information for nomination packetsLead media relations for signature events (Gala, program events, etc)Monitor media hits and reportingSupport scheduling of speaking engagements, and assist partners in promoting eventsMonitor and log incoming communication and media coverage.Prepare all press materials and solicit exposure in traditional media.Manage all advertising, marketing and social media promotional efforts.Attend events to capture activities via photo and videoCreate video productions for general purpose needs and specific eventsCONTENTWriting and EditingManage content for all company websites, blogs and social media accounts.Develop and edit content in line with BBBSBA''s messaging, and collaborate with staff on writing projectsAssist with writing press releases and crafting CEO media quotes as assigned for agency newsProduce the Annual Report: collecting info, graphic design and print management.Write and edit BBBSBA blogsProofread all marketing collateralAssist with writing scripts/speeches for events, PSAs, video promos, etc.Design (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)Serve as graphic designer for online and print publications.Create collateral for events and promotional plete graphic design projects using Adobe Suite: social media graphics, newsletter banners, invitations (recruitment/match events), social enterprise flyers, recruitment flyers, advertisementsHelp with reformatting/rebranding existing collateral, assist with rewriting copy for collateralPhoto editing and preparation of print-ready files for all marketing collateralWebsite Maintenance and AnalyticsKeep the website up to date and dynamic with fresh content, blogs, and photography, regularly auditing content for accuracy and relevancyProvide regular updates including Google Analytics reports, traffic, and issues with any redirectsCreate effective website landing pages upon request for specific campaigns and events and make updates to the website as needed: new hires, developing Mentor-specific pages, etc.MISCELLANEOUSMonitor marketing collateral inventory, including brochures, letterhead/envelopes, etc.Maintain calendar of marketing deadlines, including advertising, awards and newslettersCoordinate production deadlines/tracking for all marketing collateral requestsWork with and manage vendors as needed, monitoring performance and evaluating partnershipsOther duties as assigned - including, but not limited to, assisting with match activities, strategic planning sessions, organizational events, and board and community meetings.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in related field (marketing, advertising, journalism, communications, graphic design, English)3-5 years of professional related experience in marketing and/or communications/outreachRequired Skills and Knowledge:Proficiency using InDesign (required) and Photoshop and/or Illustrator (preferred)Exceptional written communication skillsAbility to write/edit compelling content and adapt content for marking to multiple audiencesExemplary skill for proofreading content for clarity and accuracyBasic knowledge of HTML and web designExperience with email marketing services (Mailchimp, Constant Contact or similar)Expertise and experience with communicating via social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc)Meticulous attention to detail and deadlines.Proactive, energetic, efficient and self-directed, with capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff and volunteers.An articulated belief in the mission of BBBS.Strong work ethic with high degree of personal integrity and accountability.Must pass criminal background check.This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role based out of our Oakland office, with a great benefits package including health, vision and dental, flexible daytime hours, and occasional evening and weekend hours.
