Rooted in the Latin American and Caribbean diaspora, La Peña has been a multicultural gathering place for artists, activists and allies since 1975. La Peña is a cultural homeplace where every week children and adults study and celebrate the artistic and cultural traditions that have nourished struggles of resistance, sustained cultures, and contributed to the well-being of communities seeking liberation. La Peña collaborates with artists, activists and allies to offer classes, community gatherings, performing arts events, film screenings, concerts, jams and more. We''re looking for someone who has a strong development background which includes grant writing, individual fundraising, capital campaign management and financial management skills. This individual should be a strong communicator with the capacity to cultivate relationships with funders and donors, communicating the value of La Peña offerings to the community. This role will aid the Deputy Director in all aspects of development, particularly in supporting grants administration and overseeing individual donation strategies. This role will support the following administrative work: filing, tracking, interim and final reports, maintaining and updating the grants pipeline. Will also aid the Deputy Director with individual fundraising campaigns and capital campaigns. A part-time intern will be provided for this role for appropriate administrative work. The Development Manager is expected to attend key events in order to cultivate personal relationships and support event staff when needed. The role requires strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Salesforce and Excel and a self-starter, this role must have very strong organizational skills, be responsive and detail oriented. Development Grants Support (40%):Aid Deputy Director in meeting annual contributed income quota based on budgetWriting and submitting grants applicationsProspecting for new grants opportunities Communications and correspondencesLogistical grant and operations based workElectronically and physically file grants informationWrite interim and final reports Maintain and update the grants pipelineUpdate the grants calendar regularly Consistently update Bookkeeper when grants are awarded and provide necessary references Track contributed income regularly Manage part-time admin internIndividual Fundraising (40%):Develop and execute strategies for individual fundraisingOversee individual fundraising campaigns, including sustained donors and legacy giving Donor database management and upkeepSupport with Capital CampaignCommunicate with donors through direct mailers, thank you letters, and newslettersWork with the marketing team to develop graphic design and materials for campaignsSend detailed reports of donations and campaigns to Bookkeeper and Deputy DirectorDevelop relationships with donors and connect them to the leadership team Oversee that La Peña''s online profiles on giving websites are up-to-date (i.e. Network for Good, Facebook giving etc...)Corporate Giving (10%):Oversee corporate giving strategies, including corporate team-building workshopsSupport in growing corporate giving and sponsorshipsCommunicate and coordinate Other (10%):Troubleshoot issues with Salesforce (logins, integrations, updates)Assist onsite with key events SkillsIndividual Fundraising ExperienceGrant writing ExperienceCapital Campaign ExperienceStrong Written, Verbal and Interpersonal SkillsProficient in Excel, Google Suite, Salesforce and Microsoft officeSelf-Starter, Very strong Organizational Skills, Responsive, Detail Oriented. Can Create Basic Graphic Designs for Fundraising Related Projects Preferred bilingual in Spanish and EnglishExperience/QualificationsA minimum of 5 yrs experience in a nonprofit setting. A minimum of 3 yrs experience in fundraising/development. A minimum of 2 years experience with project management or coordination. Bachelor''s or higher degree preferred in a related field such as business administration, education etc.Physical Demands:The responsibilities and tasks associated with this position will require regularly sitting and viewing a computer, standing, walking, speaking, hearing and occasional lifting.
