Summarized Purpose: Provides systems analysis, design, development, testing and support on highly complex technical information system components. Essential Functions: Works with business groups to analyze, define and address requests on business requirements for applications and interfaces. Develops cost and resource estimates for project. Designs and develops components and services according to specifications within a team environment. Prepares detailed system documentation including requirements, specifications, test plans and user manuals. Provides recommendations on database design. Provides technical leadership for project team during implementation. Performs unit and system test and, as needed, validation testing. Coordinates with Operations staff on deployment of application and with IT Service Desk in providing ongoing application support. Provides guidance to junior staff in executing systems development responsibilities. Education and Experience: Bachelor''s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification. Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 6 years'') or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience. Years of experience refers to typical years of related experience needed to gain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. GD LI-KF2 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Client focused approach with strong interpersonal skills Must be able to multitask and pay close attention to detail Expert knowledge of .NET and/or Java, Web Services, ETL and related technologies & protocols (SOAP, SOA, XML, MVC, LINQ, etc.), Web Development Languages, Scripting Languages Expert knowledge of basic relational database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server) and languages (PL/SQL, SQL) Familiarity with the following systems & skills: Apache, IIS, Windows & Linux/Unix Server, Validated System Experience, Clinical Industry Knowledge, Project Management Excellent logic, analysis, and problem-solving skills Working Conditions and Environment: Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Occasional drives to site locations with occasional travel both domestic and international. Long, varied hours may be required. Physical Requirements: Frequently stationary for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Frequent mobility required. Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting of upper body and neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs. Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf. Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently interacts with others to obtain or relate information to diverse groups. Works independently with little guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions and plans work schedules to meet goals. Requires multiple periods of intense concentration.
