Our 113,000 colleagues serve people in more than 160 countries.Job DescriptionPrimary Function/Primary Goals/Objectives:Operational knowledge of the following equipment: depalletizer, line filler, seamer, labeler, case packer, cartoner and forklift. Requires the ability to troubleshoot on-line situations and perform applicable routine lubrications and preventive maintenance. The operator will perform all associated production sampling and documentation per applicable Quality documents. Operator must be willing to work any hours assigned.Major Responsibilities:For Filler and Seamer Operation:Maintenance of product level in fillerEnsure proper operating parameters for filler, seamer and can washerPerform preventative maintenance on filler and seamerEnsure commodities are released prior to usageGrease and oil seamer as neededPerform visual can inspectionFill weight checksEnsure proper FP tank hook-up to filling linesFor Clean Up Operation:Perform preventative maintenance check on filler valves and pistonsEnsure proper cleaning methods are used during a wash jobCleaning area to include: filler valves, filler pistons, filler screens, filler bowl, product filters, filler room floors and wallsFor Depalletizer, Labeler, Casepacker and Cartoner:Set up equipment according to packing requirements and adjust as necessary during productionLoad commodities into equipmentMaintain inventory counts of commodities used during each batchMaintain cleanliness of equipment and work stationsPerform and document Quality checks and preventative maintenanceEducation:High School Diploma/GED required.Background:Prior to this job - Entry level manufacturing or equivalent experience or completion of Liquid Packaging Operator Trainee training certification; safety training; Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) training; Fork truck license; Quality inspection, documentation and inventory control experienceVerbal InstructionsRecognize SignsRead & WriteFollow Simple Written DirectionsPrepare Simple ReportsFollow Complex Written DirectionsRoutine Machine OperationsReading Gauges & InstrumentsProduction RecordsOther: Use of hand toolsAdd, Subtract, Multiply, Decimals, Divide, Fractions, ProportionsAccountability/Scope/Budget:The Liquid Products Packaging Department is responsible for the filling and packaging of pediatric and medical nutritional liquid products processed at the Sturgis Plant. Products are filled/packaged in 8 oz. containers according to all applicable GMP''s and Quality documents to ensure a quality product is produced in a safe and sanitary work environment.
