Find your future with us.Boeing Defense Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join us as part of our KC-46 Tanker Mission Systems Avionics (MSA) Software team located in Tukwila, WA.A successful candidate will lead a diverse group of junior-level through senior-level real-time/embedded software engineers to develop innovative mission avionics and aerial refueling software/architecture solutions in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The candidate will oversee teams in various phases of maturity, spanning from project inception through operational sustainment, for both program-unique and product-line projects.This is a union represented position.Position ResponsibilitiesSoftware architecture and development for a next generation Aerial Refueling and Mission Systems, collaborating with a cross-functional team of electronics, hardware and systems engineersDesigns board support and software interfaces to avionics, sensors and actuators, communication busses, space and ground networksLeads mission software application development and verification team in an agile secure development environmentThis position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.Basic QualificationsAbility to obtain a Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start)Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree10+ years of experience in software architecture and design of embedded software systems10+ years of experience in developing software for real-time embedded systems10+ years of experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)10+ years of experience in a leadership or management role10+ years Hands-on experience in operating systems, I/O drivers, networking, and object-oriented design. 10+ years of experience programming in C, C++ or ADAPreferred Qualifications10+ years of experience coding real-time avionics flight software using C++Experience leading Agile teams for software & systems engineeringVxWorks/Unix/Linux and/or embedded RTOS experience involving multi-processing, secure partitioning, and fully deterministic operations.Real-time flight and controls algorithmsExperience with Atlassian & Git CI/DevSecOps toolsExperience with additional programming languages and frameworks. ADA and/or Java knowledge preferred but not required.Typical Education/ExperienceEducation/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years'' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years'' related work experience, Master+12 years'' related work experience).
