TheFutureIsBuiltHere ChangeTheWorldThis position is part of the EO/IR Mission Systems team within BR&T. The focus of this team is to design cutting edge sensor systems, and the key technologies that enable those systems, to support both Boeing and its external customers. Systems range from airborne EO/IR systems to space payloads. The team is focused on providing complete solutions, including systems engineering, optics design, mechanical design, algorithms, software development, firmware development, electronics, and advanced system modeling and simulations. As part of BR&T, the primary focus is on prototype systems and demonstrations, so we''re looking for people who like to try new things, and aren''t afraid of a challenge!We are seeking mechanical engineers in Huntington Beach, CA with experience doing structural analysis for mission systems to work on our mechanical engineering design team for optical sensing systems. Responsibilities will include structural analysis of opto-mechanical systems, sub-systems, and components, including telescope housings, optical mounts, sun shades, mechanisms, and electronics. Our team is responsible for all aspects of design from proof of concept through delivery, including conceptual design, CAD modeling, structural analysis, and thermal analysis, as well as assembly, integration, and test of the hardware in our electronics and optics labs.This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. Post start secret clearance is requiredPosition Responsibilities: Preform structural analysis of space and airborne sensor systemsWork on the mechanical design team for prototype sensor systems and sub-systems, including design, analysis, integration, and testProvides technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical systemsSupports activities to validate and verify mechanical requirements, including design and trade studiesSupports proposal preparation and new business development efforts.Plans and leads research projects to develop concepts for future product designs to meet future sensor needs for Boeing and it''s customersBasic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience): Bachelor''s, Master''s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry5+ years of experience of structural analysis for space and/or airborne applicationsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Active security clearanceStructural analysis of mission payloads for space platformsExperience working on research and development or prototype programsTypical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years'' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years'' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standardRelocation: Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position.
