Milford Healthcare and Rehabilitation is an 80 bed skilled nursing facility located in the charming town of Milford, Pennsylvania. This role requires strong nursing skills, practical training and proven leadership abilities, plus strong interpersonal and communication abilities, patience, compassion and a desire to help others.Day-to-day responsibilities include:Directing, guiding and teaching RN supervisors, LPNs, nurse aides ensuring consistent, cohesive quality of careSchedules and chairs the Infection Control Committee.Responsible for implementing, monitoring and evaluating the infection control program.Assumes authority to institute infection control measures in emergency situations.Reviews monthly reports of resident infection incidents with Medical Director and Director of Nursing to determine trends, outbreaks, etc.Maintains records of vaccines administered to employees and residents.Maintains membership and attends meeting of area APIC organization and other organizations related to Infection Control Practice. Attends continuing education itiates and coordinates annual review of Infection Control and Exposure Control plan manuals, and employee health guidelines.Evaluating nursing staff performance and providing structured appraisals to improve and enhance serviceCoordinating resident rounds to assess residents'' skin conditions and work with the Director of Nursing to develop comprehensive, individualized follow upAiding in the interview, hiring and training process for all new nursing staff, including presenting at the new employee general orientationFunctioning as the primary instructor for nursing assistant classes, including documenting performance and participationMonitoring staff patterns and nursing care hours to ensure proper coverage at all timesSupervising staffing coordinator, and performing these duties during any period of absencePlanning and coordinating in-service education programs, in accordance with applicable regulationsDeveloping a full-year schedule of planned education programs, geared primarily towards geriatric residentsIdentifying and evaluating special nursing problems and emergency situations quickly and in accordance with residents'' advance directives; initiating life saving measures in the absence of a physician, as appropriateAdditionally, the Assistant Director of Nursing will assume all responsibilities for the Director of Nursing during periods of absence and, as such, a strong managerial and organizational background is critical.
