Technical Instructor- Intensive Care Nurse Location: Ft. Sam Houston, TX Employment Class: Full Time Regular FLSA Classification: Exempt - Salaried Position Summary: 1Prospect Technologies, LLC is seeking a qualified Technical Instructor - Intensive Care Nurse who provides instructor and curriculum delivery support services in the Critical Care Flight Paramedic (CCFP) and Recertification Courses. The course consists of classroom didactics in critical care medicine including pharmacology, pathophysiology and enroute critical care. It also includes practical experience including hospital intensive care units, ground ambulance, and air ambulance observation in the local area of operations. The final portion includes certification testing and Army-specific equipment orientation. The Technical Instructor Intensive Care Nurse will augment the Government staff for CCFP as directed, in support of U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) Directorate of Simulation (DoS) located at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Ft. Sam Houston, TX. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Prepare for and deliver standardized course materials as prescribed in the Instructor Guide, including content, sequence, timing, audiovisual presentation, and instructional methodology Perform lead role in the implementation of training. Presents specific courseware modules using established guidelines from the client and IAW current instructional course design models Administer, correct and review quizzes, tests, final exams, practical exams and assignments, and papers as required for the program and maintain security over all teaching materials; e.g. tests, answer keys, answer sheets, and student grades. These materials shall not be improperly reproduced or distributed and must be immediately provided to the Training Specialist/Course Manager. Report student discipline problems to the Training Specialist/Course Manager for resident courses, or local site representative for non-resident deliveries as soon as possible Brief students on the end-of-course and long-term evaluation processes and facilitate completion of that process where applicable Refer all student requests for exceptions or academic considerations to Program Manager, instructor may not at any time approve exceptions to program policies Student liaisons during ICU clinical rotations to seek out problems or issues for student assignments Instruct, as needed, during didactic time of clinical rotations Execute approved course delivery plans in accordance with milestone schedules and imposed deadlines. Conduct after action reviews and evaluations; implements recommendations based on student and client input Didactic time is during standard Plan of Instruction (POI) time of 0700-1700. Clinical rotation component of the course will occur during nights typically (12-hour shifts). Duration of clinical rotations are 4 weeks, including weekends. Provide professional/subject matter expertise to the instructional delivery, design, development, and execution of training programs. Recommend revisions and updates to existing training materials. Research professional literature, doctrine, regulations, policies, and training materials; and collaborate with civilian and military experts on training material revisions and updates. Duties are subject to change based on the needs of the government customer Other duties as assigned. Education, Certification & Experience Requirements Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Registered Nurse (RN)) Must have current RN license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications Ability to pass and maintain a Tier 1 (T1) Investigation (Federal background check). A current adjudicated T1 or higher investigation or Security clearance is preferred Preferred: Experience as an instructor Minimum of two (2) years experience in an ALS or critical care setting preferred Completion of the Army Common Faculty Development - Instructor Course Medical training and experience in the U.S. Military, preferably in the U.S. Army, more preferably in the U.S. Army Special Operations Forces (SOF) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Required: Must be knowledgeable in pharmacology to include critical care medications, intravenous medication titration, equipment utilized to administer medication, medication interactions, contraindications, and reversal procedures. Must be knowledgeable in hemodynamics and effects of critical care diagnoses on body system, pharmacology, and hemodynamics. Ability to stand for long periods of time while in the field or classroom Be able to read, write, and speak English Fluently Possess excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills Be capable of learning and utilizing current and emerging military and commercial technology Capable of performing a variety of writing tasks ensuring cohesiveness, clarity, flow, and compliance with Army and grammatical writing guidelines Be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and incorporated programs to include Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook, and be able to troubleshoot basic computer hardware and software required for services being provided Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands Services will be provided at government facilities. Conduct instruction in a variety of environments, to include classroom laboratory, clinical, or field instruction Training Locations Include: Ft Sam Houston, TX and San Antonio Military Medical Center North (SAMMC) May work weekdays or weekends, day, night or early morning shifts. Shifts may be 8 or 12 hours. The hours depend on the practice and setting during clinical rotations Standard hours for didactic portion of course are 0700-1700 Advance notice of a schedule will be provided. May be called in on off duty time during clinical rotations. May be exposed to infections or disease during clinical rotations Works in close proximity to patients during clinical rotations During clinical rotations at San Antonio Military Medical Center North (SAMMC), staff may be required to wear specific scrubs or clothing.
