General Purpose of the PositionThe Personal Assistance Service Provider provides personal assistance to eligible employees, who because of severe disabilities, require such assistance in order to be at work or participate in work-related travel. This includes services that help individuals with disabilities perform activities of daily living, including, such as, assistance with removing and putting on clothing, eating, and using the restroom. Additionally, the PAS may provide travel assistance to an employee or retrieving work materials that are out of reach. Essential Functions • Meets with employees and Program Office to go over specifics of the eligible employee''s needs, tasks to be performed, and the manner in which tasks are to be performed.• Documents specific needs to deliver quality care, restricting personal health information only to Program Office.• Provides access to otherwise inaccessible aspects of the job or personal care.• Provides basic nursing interventions such as lifting, positioning and/or ambulating.• Meets employee in the mornings, assists with using elevator and entering building/floor.• Assists in the evening leaving primary office location/floor/building; if raining, snowing, etc., assists with protective plastic covering.• Transfers the employee, regardless of weight/size from a wheelchair or scooter to and from a bed (if on travel status), vehicle, toilet etc.• Supports employee''s independence by providing assistance with feeding (including minor food preparation), retrieval of personal items from luggage/purse/wallet.• Assists patient in care for personal hygiene including, removing and putting on clothing, showering and grooming, and/or provides assistance using the restroom.• Is attentive to the employee with regards to hygiene, proper positioning and injury prevention.• Accompanies employee on official travel or Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY) within the Continental United States (CONUS) and internationally.• Assesses whether a room can store, or can accommodate, specialized or adaptive devices and equipment that has been requested by eligible employees. If the location is a conference that the eligible employee is attending, they shall coordinate services and needs with conference officials.• As services are being executed, ensures passageways and doorways are cleared, assists in opening doors.• To the extent necessary to effectively provide services/care, carries packages, lifts light equipment, assists with filing, assists in cleaning/tidying workspace, reaches and grabs objects that are out of the reach of the eligible employee.• Accurately observes and recognizes changes from "usual" observations, discusses with the eligible employee, and reports to the Program Office.• Assists eligible employee(s) at work-related meetings and appointments, as needed, to provide care.• Maintains a safe environment that meets the physical and personal needs of eligible employees. Adheres to the appropriate risk management practices including, but not limited to proper handling of bodily fluids (to include toileting, nose secretions, saliva, etc.) and appropriate use of universal precautions to reduce exposure to self and others. Reports, immediately, all incidents to Program Office.• If providing services to more than one eligible employee, acts as an active participant in planning, organizing and prioritizing the specific needs of each eligible employee under care. • Properly and safely lifts, moves, transfers, and/or positions eligible employees in wheelchairs, complying with policies, procedures, and specific nursing protocols. • Demonstrates boundaries when caring for the eligible employee. Ensures integrity of the rights of the eligible employee(s) by following all privacy and confidentiality requirements. • Maintains necessary licensing and/or certifications to perform skilled personal care, such as catheter care, bowel care, tube replacements, etc., if required to provide PAS to an eligible employee. • When not providing services, provides administrative support, such as data entry, filing, escorting, and electronic document review. NOTE: Personal Assistance Services Providers may not:• Act as an official representative on behalf of the agency or its employees. • Perform any of the employees'' essential or non-essential job duties. • Perform tasks unrelated to personal assistance services. • Drive eligible employees. Non-Essential/Additional Duties 1. Performs special assignments, projects, and other duties that align with the mission and vision of the company.Qualifications • Clearance required: Top Secret• High School Diploma/GED• Successful completion of Nursing Aide Certification Program in accordance with laws in state in which employee works laws.• Current Nursing Assistant Certification in state working in.• Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills.• Strong punctuality and timeliness in terms of shift attendance.• Ability to travel overnight (hours will vary while on official travel) Supervision ExercisedNone Physical Demands This job generally operates in an office environment.
