We are currently looking for a Physician Assistant to join our Dept of Surgery Team! SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION: Physician Assistant shall be a critical member of the Surgical team of Surgical Attendings and Residents caring for patients with acute surgical problems in the areas of General and Vascular Surgery, Urology, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery. The Physician Assistant shall be involved in evaluating and managing patients with surgical diseases, performing bedside procedures when appropriate, assist in the operating room when appropriate, and ensure continuity in the continuum of care between the inpatient and outpatient areas. We are recruiting individuals who enjoy working on teams and learning in a teaching environment. Experience with surgical patients is highly preferred with on the job training provided. The Physician Assistant will be responsible for managing health problems, coordinating health care, and assisting in surgery for Dept. The successful candidate will function in full compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care. Perioperative preparation and postoperative clinical management will be conducted in collaboration with the attending physician and other health care professionals. QUALIFICATIONS: Valid license/certificate as a Physician Assistant in the State of NJ, required DEA License Possess a current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS), required Possess a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), required Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Bachelor s degree in related field. Graduate of an accredited school of medicine. Two years experience as a PA in an acute care setting required.
