Provides support for clinical practice at point of care. Role models patient care practices through direct patient care. Essential Job Functions Contributes to departmental and organizational philosophy, purpose, and goals. Acts as a change agent within organization.Provides an appropriate climate for learning, and facilitates the adult learning process by developing, planning, and presenting educational activities and directly or indirectly fostering the development of competence in the nursing staff.Assists learners to identify both their learning needs and the effective learning activities required to meet those needs while fostering a positive attitude about the benefits and opportunities of life-long learning.Collaborates with hospital staff and physicians in development of educational strategies, educational materials, policies and procedures, and clinical practice protocols and-or standards.Identifies changes that should be made in nursing practice using an evidence-based approach and facilitating the initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.Acts as both a formal and informal consultant assists with the integration of new learning into practice and serves as a resource by assisting staff in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external educational resources, and selecting educational options.Maintains educational records according to the requirements of hospital, organizational accrediting bodies, and regulatory agencies. Collects and analyzes educational data and statistics.Coordinates and evaluates nursing student affiliations.Models behaviors that reflect affiliations with professional organizations as well as the community.Maintains clinical competence in their area of tegrates ethical principles in to all aspects of practice.Provides ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the educational activities to ensure that they maintain and enhance professional development that promotes the delivery of cost-effective high quality healthcare.Evaluates his or her own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards, relevant statutes and regulations, and maintaining continuing professional nursing competence.Collaborates with others in the practice of nursing professional development at the institutional, local, regional and state levels.Participates in and uses evidence-based research to identify strategies for improving professional development activities, nursing practice, and patient outcomes.Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning, delivering, and managing professional development activities. Formal Education and Job-Related Experience * Bachelors degree in Nursing or health-related field. Master s Degree in Nursing or Education preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in pediatric nursing, PICU-NICU or pediatric rehabilitation, preferred. Knowledge of principles of adult learning. Experience using an electronic health record. Ability to communicate and collaborate with others effectively. Competent in use of all Microsoft Office applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills Certification * AHA BLS Provider required. American Heart Association CPR Instructor preferred.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or eligible. If not certified at hire, expectation to receive certification within one year of hire (INPATIENT ONLY) License * Current New Jersey RN license. Education and Experience - Additional Comments * Has knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, concepts, and procedures as applied to the care of the patient population served. Specialized knowledge in the nursing management and care of pediatric and-or rehabilitation patient problems and conditions is required. Has knowledge of relevant educational content and appropriate methods of delivery and the ability to develop and facilitate relevant and effective education for adult learners. Has skills to collaborate in developing and evaluating standards of care for patients that are evidence-based. Job Specific Contacts * Ongoing contact with all hospital staff, physicians, administrators, volunteers, patient families and related agencies. Physical Demands * Patient care environment, contact with medications, chemicals and equipment. hysical stamina and ability to safely lift and move objects and people.
