The primary focus of the Psychiatrist is to provide direct patient psychiatric services to mentally ill inmates/wards under the direction of the Chief Psychiatrist.Details: • Part-time, Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm • Locum position • Meet with mentally ill patient-inmates for crisis intervention, face-to-face interviews, etc. • Conduct evaluations including criminal, psychiatric, and substance abuse case history to assess inmate''s current needs • Conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations including clinical reviews, protocols, pertinent date reviews, and proper documentation • Monitor patient progress using SOAPE formatted progress notes • Identify the relevant signs and symptoms of medical/psychological disorders • Examine prior mental health records, probation reports, court records, and other available documents • Consult with supervising psychiatrist with complex or serious cases • Provide medication as deemed appropriate for treatment • Interpret lab results • Work in consult with primary care medicineBenefits: • Excellent pay rate • Convenient weekly direct deposits • Comprehensive malpractice insurance • Professional healthcare staffing experts that guide you through the entire locum processQualifications • Valid California medical license • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry • Minimum of twelve consecutive months of experience within the last three years • Active, unrestricted DEA • Current BLSMDstaffers Commitment to Excellence We are committed to developing lasting relationships with our candidates.
