Northern Trust Asset Management is seeking to hire an experienced market data strategist and leader to support its market data vendor management program. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with NTAM business (e.g., Product, Investments, Distribution, Operations, Finance) and the Enterprise Market Data team to strategize and execute on an effective and efficient sourcing strategy, drive spend analytics, perform third party risk oversight, and forge strong market data vendor relationships. In addition to market data vendor management, the candidate will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives and business governance activities as assigned by the COO. The candidate will have deep understanding of market data, strong project management skills, demonstrated commercial acumen and leadership skills, and a track record of leveraging data and analytics to meet NTAM COO''s twin goals of excellence in service delivery and market data spend optimization.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESKey responsibilities of this role will include: Partner with NTAM business to understand their various market data needs and collaborate with Enterprise Market Data to provide thought leadership on internal/external alternatives, develop a strategic sourcing plan that align with NTAM''s objectives. Assess the impact of the strategic sourcing requirements on underlying business processes and system/data implications, and translate those requirements to meet business'' needs in a timely and concise manner. Provide consultative and execution support to the business throughout the procurement process, including strategic negotiations, contracting, renewals, enablement and termination, providing subject matter expertise on redistribution rights sourcing, digital rights, intellectual property, etc. Drive execution and timely on-boarding of third-party market data by collaborating with market data providers and internal technology and operations stakeholders. Liaise with Enterprise Market Data to devise optimal sourcing strategies, expedite market data engagements in flight, monitor engagement status/issues to support timely execution, and serve as the primary escalation contact for both the business and for the Enterprise market data team to resolve issues. Stand up a robust governance program, in collaboration with enterprise stakeholders, to educate the business on NTAM licensed index and market data to promote effective data usage and consumption. Identify, socialize and realize cost saving opportunities from analyzing and optimizing market data spend. Stay current on emerging trends, market data vendor products, the different market data delivery channels assessing how they can be used to further NTAM''s strategic agenda. Implement reporting processes to drive transparency into status of market data requests. Perform vendor oversight, include monitoring of critical market data vendors, managing vendor relationship and risks in compliance with Northern''s Third Party Risk Management requirements and standards Drive key strategic NTAM and enterprise initiatives programs as directed by senior leadership, including enabling work place services, business continuity planning, etc. Support a culture of continuous improvement to reduce operational risk and drive operational excellence.NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Hands-on and results driven leader comfortable working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. Strong project management and execution skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver multiple initiatives simultaneously and deal with surprises while maintaining calm, flexibility and integrity. Structured thinker and resourceful problem solver who is comfortable with data and analytics to drive decision making. Strong business-focused and stakeholder management skills to influence, build consensus diplomatically and develop effective relationship with senior level business partners; demonstrates leadership skills to navigate a matrixed organization and work with others who may not have a direct reporting line into the group Effective communicator with the ability to crisply articulate complex concepts and develop and present presentations and analysis to persuade executive audiences. Global outlook with sensitivity and awareness of social and cultural differences Strong situational awareness and decision making capabilities Strong Excel skills with data visualization skills using Tableau and Power BI tools a strong plusNECESSARY EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Bachelor''s degree required; advanced business or law degree is desirable. 15+ years of overall experience with at least 5+ years of expertise in market data space for asset managers or asset servicers. Demonstrated experience in managing or leading cross-functional projects. Knowledge of Asset Management industry and business operations. Demonstrated track record of strategically engaging with the business on their needs, performing strategic options analysis, and driving the market data vendor management lifecycle, including contract negotiation.
