Post-operative Duties Assess patients'' condition after a surgery has been performedEnsure that all vitals are within normal rangeLog all findings in patients'' filesAnswer patients'' questions and ensure that they are kept comfortableMake sure that all relevant IVs are in checkDevelop individualized care plans based on each individual patient''s conditionEnsure that the all nursing activities are carried out in accordance to individual patient care planMonitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctorInitiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medicationsDetermine when patients are ready to be moved to their roomsPerform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergenciesRecord sedation levels and body temperatureManage blood and fluid transfusions and draw specimensEnsure that the post-operative space is clean and sanitizedChange bandages and dress surgical woundsUSP-STUSP-123LI-JB1Required Skills:Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state of TexasMust be a graduate of an accredited school of nursingMust have at least 2-5 years'' previous experience in PreOP/PACUPrevious experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferredMust have current BLS, ALS and PALSMust possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patientUnderstanding of aseptic techniques and their implementationAbility to care for patients from infancy to geriatricAbility to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when neededMust be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physiciansEmployment practices will not be influenced or affected by an applicant''s or employee''s race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status or any other legally protected status.
