Transportation Engineer

Our new teammate is expected to lead technical tasks and assist in working on FDOT projects.The candidate is expected to apply creative problem-solving skills to assist other markets and regions on high profile, technically challenging projects. This is your opportunity to work on a wide variety of technically challenging projects and be an integral team member as we grow our project portfolio in Northwest Florida.Position ProfileThis position is primarily responsible for delivering transportation projects. This position will work out of the Hanson office in Bonifay, Florida or Tallahassee, Florida. This is an Infrastructure Market position.A Day in the Life of a Transportation Engineer at HansonAssist with engineering projects from concept through completion including design, planning, computations, quality assurance, and project managementPlan, schedule work, and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelinesApply FDOT design standards and criteria as well as practices and policiesWrite clear, concise, and accurate technical and non-technical reports, correspondence, memorandums, and specificationsPrepare accurate cost estimates, proposals, and invoicesUtilize MicroStation, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointTravel occasionally to other offices and provide project support as neededPerform limited field observations in support of construction and data collectionAttend client meetingsAvailability to work occasionally beyond normal working hours for deadline completion or to accommodate field assignmentsCoordinates and collaborates with clients, engineering disciplines, sub-consultants, and vendorsLeverage working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers especially in FDOT, local governments, and private clientsOther duties as assigned.What Were Looking ForWe feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:Technical Skills:Demonstrated proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil3D, and other related design software applicationsSoft Skills:Communicating complex technical concepts to engineers, clients, and public stakeholders both verbally and in writingBuilding effective relationships with internal and external client basesWorking independently and as a team member to problem solve and learn new technical skillsInterest in experiencing a variety of assignments is importantEducation/Experience:Bachelors Degree in civil engineering requiredProfessional Engineering License in Florida required5+ years of experience in the Transportation engineering industryExperience working on FDOT roadway projects requiredWorking at Hanson:Collaborate remotely with colleagues in other officesCandidate must be willing to accept out-of-town travel assignmentsMust be willing to work overtime to meet project demands when neededBenefitsOur focus on people means we offer a generous benefits program to help you create a solid foundation for health and security throughout your career, including:Competitive compensationPerformance bonuses401(k) with matching contributionEmployee Stock Ownership PlanComprehensive health & well-being plansFinancial wellness plansWork-life balance programsWant to know more?
