The patient population includes diagnosis such as unstable angina and myocardial infarctions, arrhythmias, acute renal failure, acute respiratory failure, arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, pneumonia, and sepsis. CICU also cares for patients who have undergone cardiothoracic surgery including cardiac bypass, complex valve replacement/repair, and TAVR. CICU consists of patients who require invasive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, EKOS (PE and extremities) continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ECMO, IMPELLA, intra-aortic Balloon Pump, and induced hypothermia SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*Demonstrates clinical competence to practice within the unit''s Scope of Care.Manages expenses to stay within budgetary municates effectively with staff, peers, Director, external and internal customers.Utilizes quality improvement as basis to improve unit/department process.Pursues own professional growth and development.Maintains unit readiness for regulatory surveys.Assumes responsibility for decisions and actions.Provides opportunities for employee development. EXPERIENCERequired - Oneyear experience as RN with demonstrated proficiency leadership and managementskills.Preferred - Twoyears experience as an RN in a charge nurse role. EDUCATIONRequired - Graduateof an accredited school of nursing with a current license as a RN in the Stateof Virginia or compact license.Preferred - Educationalprograms in nursing management.
