Sexual Assault Victim Advocate PRN/On-call/Relief/Flexible! The SAFE Alliances Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy Program seeks a PRN (on-call) Sexual Assault Accompaniment Specialist (victim advocate) to provide medical accompaniment to survivors of sexual assault during their forensic exam for evidence collection. The SAFE Alliance grew out of the courageous work of the Center for Battered Women, the Austin Rape Crisis Center, and the Austin Childrens Shelter, all respected, women-led human service agencies created by volunteers and informed by survivors who needed support, safety and justice. With over 20 programs and 400 staff, we have been serving the Austin community and beyond for over 30 years. About this position: We need you to fill the role of Sexual Assault Accompaniment Specialist (victim advocate). This is a PRN (on-call), non-exempt position primarily during weekends and M-F evenings. You can/will be dispatched to any facility in Travis County and must respond in less than 60 minutes. We will pay you $19.00 hour plus $5 on-call compensation for each 8-hour shift. Key Duties: Provide face-to-face, confidential, crisis intervention and support, discuss medical and legal options, and explain SAFEs support services (such as counseling, legal advocacy and follow-up services). Commit to a minimum of 48 hours of on-call per month. PRN shifts are primarily weekends and M-F evenings. You self-schedule, so there is ample flexibility. Specialists are not onsite while on-call; you may or may not be dispatched during your shift. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in social or behavioral sciences, or related field, preferred OR 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in customer service, direct medical client support, legal advocacy, law enforcement or behavioral/social services. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred. Must be able to work well with a variety of other first responders including medical staff, forensic nurse examiners, law enforcement and victim services. Must be able to cope well in unexpected situations, make on-the-spot decisions, and be adaptable to changing circumstances. Must have ability to remain calm while providing crisis stabilization and establish rapport and trust without self-disclosure of your personal history (if applicable). Must have ability to engage survivors and really be present; be comfortable bearing witness to anothers process, while maintaining separation between any past trauma of your own (if applicable) and the survivors current crisis as this work can be triggering. Must maintain good professional boundaries. Pass all required criminal history background checks (including an FBI fingerprint check), as well a pre-employment drug screen and TB test. You must have and maintain reliable transportation and state-required vehicle insurance and registration during participation in the program and be able to arrive at any medical facility in Travis County in less than 60 minutes. COVID19 vaccination required for clinic and hospital clearance; this position requires in-person service delivery, even during COVID19. PPE is provided and required.
