Responsibilities Noblis MSD''s mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) in their missions to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. Noblis MSD is seeking to hire a Thermal Engineer. The Thermal Engineer will support U.S. Navy Energy Conversion Research & Development (R&D) programs. The engineer will provide engineering support for various experimental thermal management techniques using liquid, air and two-phase cooling as the active medium including system design, development, and execution of test plans, and ultimately data processing to quantify the effectiveness of various approaches. Provide engineering support for the development of a naval thermal management model. This includes performing a survey of commercially available software packages for analyzing thermal systems that are suitable for creating a ship system model. The Thermal Engineer shall review existing, currently implemented approaches for overall shipboard thermal management and develop a technical report detailing inefficiencies and fleet impacts. The results will be delivered to Navy stakeholders. Qualifications * BS in Engineering, with a graduate-level degree preferred * Candidate shall have an interest in R&D, be an analytical thinker, and possess an ability to create and perform data analysis * Draft technical presentations/reports based on project/product results * Five (5) years of experience in thermal management in areas such as heat transfer, convection, fluids/fluid dynamic (may include combination of education and professional experience) * System level modeling experience in MATLAB, Simulink, or Simscape required * Be able to perform/understand HVAC design calculations and lumped capacitance analysis * Previous experience or knowledge of US Navy ships and systems strongly preferred * Candidate shall have a Secret DoD clearance * Some travel may be required - ability to travel as necessary to support program Client Engagement • Learn about the Noblis business development lifecycle, processes, tools, and account structure• Contribute specialized domain or technical content to proposal sections or client white papers• Build a productive relationship with your client and understand their structure and goals Overview With the continuing impacts of COVID-19 around the world, we are taking action to protect the health and well-being of our colleagues and maintain the safety of the communities where we operate.
